Kudos OP. I'm a big fan of plasti dip. Looks great and good job.

Is it just me or do I find Rivian charging a ridiculous $1000 for the black out package insulting? Lol

$1000 vs $10 can of plasti dip.

Looks pretty straightforward and not too difficult. I'd love to do this as my last Jeep was "blacked out" however I'm guessing with a lease they probably don't want it altered that far?? Anyone else with a lease do it or ask Rivian about it?
following as a soon to be lessee though I think I’ll only do the chrome delete from twraps

How tricky to install is the front and rear bumper?
The chrome halo was the worst. Followed by the front bumper (because of that huge skid plate), then the rear bumper was easiest. Takes time though. Anyone can do it.

I agree on the bumpers! So happy with the result. It was my first time laying vinyl when tackling this and it wasn’t bad. Texas heat let me not have to worry about using a heat gun. Why pay someone when you can teach yourself. ?

I had placed an order for a 2025 R1S with ocean interior and the darkout package. A shop vehicle popped up that met our needs except for the darkout. Decided to pull the trigger and diy the package using plastidip and TWRAP chrome delete.

Nice work. Looks great. I also have Limestone (22” Dark Sport) and the chrome drives me crazy. I'll be de-chroming things soon.

Did you consider plasti-dipping the C-pillar compass logo?

Looks great !

Anyone currently leasing did this blackout, or used the Abstract ocean darkout package? Would love some insights.

Doesn't look as easy to swap as Plastidip, but the black with yellow accents doesn't look like could be achieved with Plastidip..

I go back-and-forth on this. I actually like the yellow highlight. I’m not sure how you plastidip only at the surface and keep the yellow.

You have to lay vinyl and carefully cut around the edges. It's not an easy task.

Or you can use the green frog painters tape and cut little strips and mask off the areas you don't want to paint over. This can be a little tedious, but it works. The trick is to use the green tape (a lot cleaner edges), not the blue tape.

I blacked out my emblems today using plastidip. I’ve done it before on other cars and lasted 3 years during the lease. Trying it again now on the R1T.

I bought vinyl for the bottom portions.
