Bracket clips onto center gove box, power from USB-C inside glove box, all other comms BT between phone, this add-on panel, and Rivian infotainment speakers only.
looks like a trivial install* and much simpler than their R1 install that tapped into wired audio and wired power, and also "took over" the center screen.
minor 'friction' I can see is that it probably makes access to the glove box 10% harder, and as noted in their YT video a large tumbler in the front cupholders might block some views, But overall even though I almost always have a 40oz Stanley with me I expect I'll end up getting one - being able to run Waze for speed traps is key IMHO. V cool.
*first time installs of brand-new product are almost never trivial.

Have y'all considered an alternative bracket that puts the add-on screen just below the main center screen? i love the clean install of this but as someone in a family of tumbler people I'm wondering if its feasible to produce a sightline clear of cups.

Since this uses the USB-C in the glovebox, then it's safe to assume that with this installed, you can no longer have a drive plugged in for use with Gear Guard? Even with some sort of hub, I think there might be power issues, etc.

All the audio interfaces seem a bit ‘sus.. FM, that won’t work since there is technically no FM modulator/radio, BT comes from the PHONE to the head unit, but if the phone is streaming CarPlay to THIS unit I’m not sure if the streaming audio from the phone can be directed to the Rivian BT integration but the CarPlay airplay stream goes to THIS unit?
Aux out to speakers, that would be only for ADDITIONAL speakers, not the in vehicle ones at all since there isn’t any AUX in for the Rivian.
Decent enough 50-70$ display.
For this type of secondary CarPlay destination standalone screen and power connection there are ANY NUMBER of $40-$100 devices that have top mount, bottom mount screens that will do the same thing especially if they aren’t actually doing the audio interface to an in car head unit.

I think the description is copied from the R1 model, hence the FM reference. The FM and AUX output modes could be used with external receivers, though I'm not sure what benefit that really has in a CarPlay context...
That said, BT can talk to multiple clients at once if the device supports it. And CarPlay (not sure about AA) uses BT for the initial handshake then creates an ad-hoc wifi connection to actually project the CP interface/audio. So its also possible that this display serves the phone first, then connects to the car once the CarPlay session is established.

Add-on screen does have its own speaker which I'd use for Waze turn-by-turn if I understood the video correctly Primary audio out from e.g.Apple Music can be routed to Rivian speakers over Bluetooth, as I understood the video.
TBH was hoping that if I'm running both Waze and Spotify from my phone, as long as the CP add-on screen is connected to the R2 over BT then both could play out the R2 speakers the way CP works in an EV6. Guess I'll see.

Good feedback, couple responses:
1 - Removed the FM comment, thanks for catching that.
2 - yes, we expect to be able to use a splitter on the USB-C port to allow powering the screen AND providing the storage thumb drive for Gear Guard. The power usage is all below the limit of that port. We are testing a splitter now - will confirm soon.
3 - Correct in that I use the R2 audio for my phone and audio. You can use the device integrated speaker if desired.
