Bummer that it's for behind second row seating so you have to fold those seats down. I need a cover that covers the area behind the 3rd row seating.

Hard to say from the language what this actually covers. It also mentions an optional snap on tailgate cover, which seems to imply it covers more than just the back of the 2nd row seat.

I read it as for behind the second row seats too, meaning the third row would have to go down. If you want something to use behind the third row, try the linerx version (https://linerx.com/collections/all/products/linerx-cargo-liner-for-rivian-r1s).

Of course the linerx version falls short for covering when the third row is down, so might end up with the linerx and WeatherTech to cover all scenarios. I like that the WeatherTech has the tailgate cover that can be unrolled to cover tailgate when down.

Curious to hear the feedback on the WeatherTech one!

The optional cover snaps to the mat and is supposed to be for loading/unloading so you don't scratch your bumper but since the way the tailgate folds down, you don't really need to protect your bumper. It will be more like an plastic mat to protect your tailgate. When not in use it rolls up and there's Velcro ties.

They are working on the 3rd row mat but no ETA yet.

so the mat protects the 2nd row and the optional snapon cover protects the tailgate? Surely there’s something that site between the two.

WTF Weathertech. I know they measure real cars and test fit, they couldn’t snag ONE picture of it in the R1S? Even the product image on a white background isn’t correct.

They're on autopilot these days. Too bad since there Is more competition than ever.

Correct! And you have to incline the spare tire cover so the surface is flat for the mat.

Please let us know once you get the mat. It would be good to receive confirmation that it is indeed what the WeatherTech sales team has said.

I understand it as the product covers from behind the 2nd row all the way to the tailgate (so covers folded down rear seats too), and the optional bumper cover would attach to the end of the liner and cover the tailgate when open and bumper.

I was thinking the same. Or at least toss up some drawings/diagrams of the real product.
