  1. ? Official EPA Range and MPGe Numbers for R1T & R1S

Yes and No. The 20ā€™s have a more aggressive tread and they have more rubber between the rim and the road surface. This means better traction and more impact resistance against potholes and other road encumbrances. If itā€™s specifically snow and or rain you can get a Mountain / Snow tread on the...
  2. ? Official EPA Range and MPGe Numbers for R1T & R1S

Itā€™s more the AT tires than the wheels themselves. If you put low rolling resistance tires on a set of 20s I guarantee youā€™ll see similar number to the 21s.
  3. Find your Rivian Order Number & Post it Here!

Yeah, I was thinking maybe that was a block of the first Amazon Vans.

  6. Gasp... pure touch interfaces aren't what consumers want

Getting back to the original subject. Remember Blackberry and people saying they only want a physical keyboard? The consumer reverts to legacy until you can prove a better interface.
  7. Anyone worried?

Still waiting on Ashton Kutcher to pop out ā€œyou got punkā€™dā€
  8. Anyone worried?

Rivian has a patent on a series parallel switch that allows the battery to charge at 800vdc and run traction drive at 400vdc. This is likely the change that upped the max charging from 160kw to over 200kw.
  9. Observations from preproduction Rivian R1T test vehicle video

I think the E-tron Has the dual charge port setup. If itā€™s true that the Riv Twins have dual ports, it would be nice to plug in a jumper and daisy chain. Where you plug into 1 EVSE and the other is a double ended J1772 and you plug that into your other car. Youā€™d only ever need 1 EVSE for a 2...
  10. Observations from preproduction Rivian R1T test vehicle video

It also kind of looks like weā€™re getting charging ports on both sides with CSS DCFC on drivers and simple J1772 on passenger. If this is true it opens up a lot of possibilities especially with possible daisy chain charging.
  11. Ford F-150 Reveal

Anyone else annoyed by the Fox NFL style graphics over a wannabe Apple Keynote? Itā€™s over complicated and exhausting not exciting. Just tell us what you have in the pipeline Ford, oh and Denis Leary doesnā€™t make you cool.

Youā€™re not, I corrected it but it was an autocorrect error to Rogers nowhere close to Tesla.
  13. what is the voltage system for the Rivian compared to Tesla?

Thatā€™s who I was referring. Teslaā€™s operate at sub-400v nominal.
  14. what is the voltage system for the Rivian compared to Tesla?

So the systems are 400v nominal which is the current norm but Rivianā€™s has a patent to switch two halves of the battery to series when charging and back to 400v for the traction motor.
  15. Florida Pre-orders

Iā€™m in Palm Beach County and ive got a R1t on retainer.
  16. R1T $69,000 starting price - opinions

I think one of Rivianā€™s plans is to sell their technology to the big auto manufacturers. This would make the Rivian brand a niche vehicle in the market but it will keep the company sustained. The target market is an interesting question though. Jeeps are way more capable off road? Not...
  17. Rivian payload / towing capacity and trailer brake controller

Agreed itā€™s not the best tow vehicle for long range but it sounds like itā€™s great for towing the boat a few miles to the ramp though.
  18. Could Rivian actually be Apple’s Project Titan?

Itā€™s completely possible that Seimens or Bosch or one of the other OE suppliers have systems that they have been working on and Rivian just hasnā€™t disclosed the source yet. But the way Rivian launched is very Apple like. Have a product thatā€™s nearly production ready. Provide 3 tiers of the...
