I very much enjoyed the discussion. I recall when the R1S was revealed in 2018. I've appreciated tech in the automotive industry and was immediately drawn to the R1S. I didn't want to be an early adopter as I saw the growing pains associated with Tesla. I bought a Model S in 2021 and here we are 4 years later with the vehicle that I originally wanted to buy. RJ's discussion of designing a "friendly" vehicle capable of handling everything we humans encounter "in the world" was subconsciously why I was attracted to the R1S. I've enjoyed my first two weeks with the R1S and I fully understand that Rivian is still in the early stages of its growth and expect momentary setbacks--sometimes at the worst possible moments--but that won't stop me from enjoying the ride.

Not particularly fond of the title of the podcast, but we live in a time where folks gotta get clicks.
If weather radar and forecast say it’s raining, and you are standing in the pissing rain, it’s f’ing raining… whether you like it or not. Besides, this is a UK channel catering primarily to UK audiences. They are not concerned with American partisan sensitivities. One can just as easily observe that, in this post-fact world, some people have trouble grappling with inconvenient truths.

Listened to this podcast the other day. It was a long interview, but one of the most inciteful I have seen. RJ’s detailing of supply chain issues and the challenges of an auto startup were mesmerizing.

But also the same things he's covered before in other talks. But, the repetition is good. Too many people don't understand the complexities of a car business, or in building a single car. And how uninformed trade policy swings could be so damaging: Can't click a button and make a supply chain materialize... or Nickel mines to pop-up state-side.

Unsure how my comment regarding the title "Can Rivian Survive" extracted your diatribe...but okay.

It's also titled "Are Trump, Tariffs & Truck Clones too much for RJ's Rivian to survive?" I don't think it's necessary to explain how your comment could be read in different ways?

Fair. I was focused more on the front and center title...the one that everyone sees whilst perusing YT. Nowhere in the podcast did she intimate that Rivian might not be able to survive due to any of the discussion points. Hence my comment regarding people needing clicks. The desire for clicks is universal and certainly not exclusive to the USA.

In fairness, I enjoyed the podcast, but thought it was poorly titled.

I enjoyed that interview and I appreciate how the host allowed RJ to speak.
I've watched other American interviews (I won't name them) and they speak over RJ after they ask a question.

Yes, I agree that some of his response was repetitive, but perhaps that's a good thing because there might be new audiences listening since the interviewer is from Europe and she has different followers.

It's nice to see Rivian being more recognize globally.

Unfortunately it's all too common with YT content for the title to have little or no bearing on what actually gets discussed. In some cases it could certainly be accidental due to poor production/editing but mostly I think it's all about the click-bait (and switch).

Good sharing. I hear the Rivian founding story all the time, but it never gets old. It's absolutely incredible Rivian has come this far after starting a car company following a global recession with practically nothing, building the factory and launching vehicles during a worldwide pandemic, and now trying to hit the mainstream with headwinds from global trade policy disruptions.

I could use some of that "hyper optimism" RJ talks about!

As a new Rivian owner, I'll admit to not having focused much on RJ's or Rivian's story. @BrayBay - when you think about the headwinds faced by Rivian as you laid them out, it's definitely impressive.
