I had the REx model for my wife's range anxiety for her commute, but when I drove it, I never used it.

A great little car in any case. Ours is also the Range Extender model.. I recently took a 110mi trip in it where I used the Range Extender (gas engine) several times. When I arrived home after driving 110mi, I had 60 Electric range remaining. Not too shabby for a 9 year old car with a tiny 33kWh battery :)

Oooh, you have the big (okay, medium) battery model!

I wish they'd have done one more year, with one more battery capacity increase. I likely would have gotten one of those instead of another Model S.

Michigan here:
You'll be fine with that commute.
That said, there are a lot of factors that come into play in the winter that can compound. Speed, snow tires, cabin heat, and cold batteries being the main 4 in my opinion.
Sounds like with your garage and being okay with a cooler cabin you'd be fine. I have a quad large pack with snow tires (more efficient than my original AT) and can get as low as 1.4mi/kWh when hustling up north to ski from a cold start, leveling out at 1.63 (215 mile range).
But typical 50 mile one way commute is slower and averages between 2.0-2.2 in the winter depending on day, direction, and if I times my charge to my morning departure. Preheating the cabin will also warm up your battery a bit and get the final electrons from the charger instead of using battery power initially.
I run the cabin quite cold, typically cycling my heat on for 5 minutes then off for 15 etc.(no idea if that helps or hurts me but I like to think it is better than running auto all the time)

One of my favorite things about switching to the Rivian was not going to the gas station every other day, but there are definitely some range anxiety tradeoffs and more math involved.
