This Thursday my prediction is Interior :CWL: Seriously though I hope we get more info on the infotainment system, accent lighting, stereo system, storage in the cab "in one of the videos it shows drawers under the chairs and center counsel", Bluetooth speaker, and hopefully nothing has changed about the flash light in the door.

It sucks but I'm pretty sure they dropped the accent lighting. I've reached out a few times asking if it was still there or if it was an added incentive when choosing the Max Pack option and they either dodged the question or didn't know. Every photo I've seen beyond the event pre-pre-production vehicles hasn't had it inside. Could be a matter of "why put accent lighting into a test vehicle".

I too am hoping for an in depth tour, but I have a feeling it will be very surface level "here is a photo of the console, it has 4 usb ports" "here is the back seat, fold it forward and you have more storage for adventure gear" "here is a glass roof, its tinted to block uva-b" More to come SOON!

I’m not actually sure that we will get interior details this week. They were very intentionally vague about when they would provide that update. As is their standard explanation for almost everything, all they said was that the interior story would be “soon”. In Rivian language, that could mean anywhere from 1 week to 1 year. And they didn’t even give it a “very soon” or “very very soon”, so it seems unlikely that it happens this week.

My guess for this week is either accessories or nothing at all.

No chance, unfortunately.

The price did go down from what was originally announced - We got a free bump from the 105 kWh to the 135 kWh (now designated as "Large Pack") for the same base price. That's $6,700 in value if based off of the $10K upgrade to the Max Pack.
At one point they were still hoping to proved the electrochromic roof, but all they ever realy promised was the vague "well equipped". I would consider all trim levels that Rivian is currently showing to be "well equipped".

I too was excited about that roof option but I am guessing even if they were able to get it to work reliably and not cost a fortune it still would of been a costly add on (like the camp kitchen) just I assume the removable roof they say is coming mid-2022 will be an additional cost. It would of been nice to look up at night and see the stars but I guess I can just grab a blanket and a warm beverage and look at the stars from the bed of the R1T.

The R1S is a $77k 830 HP AWD SUV with a lot of equipment we already know about like ventilated/heated seats, panoramic roof, excellent sound systems and so on...try to price this vs a BMW X7, Mercedes GLS, Range Rover, etc. which look/feel similar to the R1S and take their big engines to compare power output at least somewhat...those price tags quickly go to 90,100,110k+ and that's not even including the $7.5k federal EV credit or the $2k state credit we get in CO which takes the cost down to 68k making the R1S comparable to a Audi Q5s or a Mercedes E or BMW X5

I think Rivian will offer a ton of value especially for the LE vehicles

Still not true, no matter how many times you say it :)

The statement was a 135KWh truck with electrochromatic roof for $69000. That roof alone, if using any other car company that offers one as a directional sample, is worth $4K plus. They also stated that a 180degree tailgate, standard spare tire, and about a dozen other things would be included. At an absolute minimum, they've removed ~$5K in standard features that were supposed to be included for $69K.

They dropped the price $1500 while removing multiple thousands in features.

Rivian founder and chief executive R.J. Scaringe told Reuters the mid-range R1T pickup truck with a glass sky panel that can change from blue to clear was about $69,000. It can travel 300 miles on a full charge

You have to calculate inflation as well....
$69,000 in 2018 equals $72,904.49 in 2021.

My personal comparison for value is in 2016 I paid 72, 500 (2021 dollars is 79,480) for a rear wheel drive Model S 4 door sedan with 382 HP, 324.5, ft-lb Torque, 0-60 in 4.3secs, and a range of 239 miles.

This year for 79,000, I am getting an R1S, all wheel drive SUV with 835 HP, 907 ft-lb Torque, 0-60 in 3 seconds, can tow 7700 lbs, and 300+ miles of range

Granted the Model S came with unlimited free super charging but there is so much more capabilities with the Rivian. There are a lot of frills they could drop form the package (a ton of the things mentioned are not in my Tesla) and in my opinion it is still an incredible value.

We want this company to be around to honor that warranty, they have to make some decisions to ensure they are going to be profitable and be able to pump R&D dollars back into the company for future projects, growth, and sustainability.

I've done my research and analysis and I am ready to to write that check. Everyone else has to do the same and if you find something you feel is better or provides more value for your personal situation, the 1K is fully refundable....

IIRC, that $69K statement came about a year after the reveal and after when many placed deposits. The base $69K version was going to be 400HP with ~230 miles of range - I like the 800+ HP 300+ miles of range version for $67,500 better. The specifications were always preliminary and subject to change. If anyone feels what they are offering is not a good value, they are under no obligation to purchase. Anyone that expects a production vehicle to match a concept in features is in dreamland and a bit out of touch with reality. Did they want to include all those features? Absolutely. Did it make sense to them to offer them? Not in their analysis. Once again, if the changes/compromises they made after testing and working to get the vehicles into actual production result in a vehicle you no longer wish to purchase ....

I might be in the minority, but I am happy they are dropping some of the "gee whiz" gimmickry that adds cost and complexity while reducing reliability and increasing TCO thru bumped maintenance/repair costs (long term). Removing some of those gimmicks probably allowed them to give the increased bumper to bumper warranty length - and that adds a lot of value in and of itself. It also likely reduced the potential for introducing production delays (think Model X doors).
