Under powered CPU/GPU doing more then it used to in addition to possibly RAM deprived? Would be kind of interesting if you could set the GUI detail level like in games so it would be a bit more responsive for the user vs more fancy graphics.
Wasn't Rivian bragging about having hardware that runs the Unreal engine? In fact, they've run several demos in partnership with Unreal, rendering some pretty incredible graphics. That takes it all: GPU, CPU, RAM, SSD performance, etc.

I don't think I buy the under-powered thing, but I could verily be wrong. Coding inefficiencies feel more realistic, but I'm not a Software guy--I just work with them.

Coding deficiencies could be one (or just lack of time for optimizations more likely).

The other thing could easily be aggressive optimizations (I know...just the opposite...) when normally you aggressively remove things from RAM to save resources, but then you have to load them again when needed.

I have found that all functions are slow so I have developed a "Rivian speed and expectation" touch screen mentality. When I touch something to make a change, I don't expect the vehicle to immediately respond so I wait and something will happen. My theory is that when you expect an immediate response and don't get it , most of us will touch again...and again...and again. This confuses the computer and cancels the previous touch and after multiple touches the computer can't catch up and nothing happens. The garage door opener can be especially slow. Touch once and wait and the door will move. If multiple touches occur the system gets confused and the door never moves. I have no idea if my assessment is correct but my delayed touch action seems to work with most functions. I'm not saying it should be this way and I don't know why it's this way but I have learned to be less frustrated by slowing down my expectations.

I agree with the coders being the main issue here. Earlier on the software was a bit smoother. Maybe that was before we had cell shaded graphics that Rivian knew we needed. I don’t remember when, it just seems to be getting progressively worse over time with the updates we get. I feel getting a solid coding team that knows how to code and optimize for memory would be extremely beneficial.

*See the software update bricking event we had a while back for more fun reading.

Recently I've been frustrated by how unresponsive the User Interface (UI) is in my Gen 1 R1S. IT seems like it's been getting progressively worse. It takes multiple presses on the UI buttons for the UI to respond. Page transitions are not fluid nor seamless. Although the lag is seconds or fractions of a second, they are annoying all the same, especially in a software dependent vehicle with a dearth of physical controls to common features and functionality.

I have been paying attention more closely to determine if I wasn't pressing in the correct spot due to parallax error, or if the UI isn't registering the touch, or if it's just slow. The UI registers the touch in the correct spot, the button give a visual cue that it's been touched, but it doesn't switch immediately. I can often register multiple presses before the screen changes.

It occurs for all screen, not just one in particular, and it happens when switching in quick succession from different screens. Once it "catches up" the performance improves, sometimes it doesn't.

Am I the only one with this problem? Is this something service can address? Or should I wait for the "Paperclip 3.0" to be release and ask it?
Same, laggy now and the UI has been consistently "slowing" since earlier this year. No longer snappy to navigate through the menus and is now almost embarrassing when I'm "showing off" the truck...soft/hard resets do not help.

I hold out hope after each update that it will improve.

The most lag I notice is when I'm in the drive menu and try to use two fingers to make the little model of the car rotate. It just doesn't work. The windmill in the back is frozen or runs at about 2 frames per second. A reboot fixes it but it comes back.

Does anyone else have this? Can you all move the vehicle around with two fingers like in the video in the previous post? When mine lags, it stops allowing me to move that at all.

You can watch my video above, I don't see that.

I did watch it. I see yours moves the way it's supposed to. I was just asking if anyone else was experiencing what I've seen where it stops moving altogether.

I am experiencing the same issue. Degenerative UI responce.

Early Gen2 Dual Motor here... I have the same issue.
One strange observation - I just had a customer come for a full wrap to us, and I tried his (Gen2 Tri-Motor, a month old) to see how it compares - his UI was super fast. You tap something it immediately pops up. I was actually researching if Tri-Motors are getting better HW than my Dual Motor, but I find no indication of that.

Same. Dual motor gen 2 R1S. Took delivery a couple of days ago and it’s been incredibly buggy. Apple Music seemed to freeze and just overall a terrible experience with how slow and unresponsive it can be.

Current update didn't "help" the UI. Still has a slight lag.
