Thinking about a Gen2 upgrade and maybe trying more efficient wheels (and should I keep my 20ATs?)

Im drawn by the allure of non-potato cameras to the Gen2s, along with a fresh warranty, the better driving automation, etc (I hate the idea of losing the Meridian audio and my very-well-built early VIN LE. though)... anyway,. I wonder if I should try some street wheels? More importantly... has anyone bought inexpensive aftermarket wheels to swap on the trade in, just so they can keep the 20" AT Darks?

Cameras are definitely better. Meridian audio was soooo much better. FYI. You knew this already though

You will get dinged on trade in value if you put cheap aftermarket wheels. BUT thankfully the OEM 21s are pretty universally hated and very cheap. You can swap out a cheap set of 21s and not impact your trade in value.

I switched from 21 to 20, and I used Michelin defender tires and they are very efficient and quite actually. Plus much better price than OEM

If you were closer, I'd sell you the 21's I have sitting in my garage from my Gen 1. You could swap those out and keep the 20's.

I have a gen2 R1s and despite reading the general displeasure at the new audio system, I sprang for the premium audio and. Overall dynamic range is great, but the bass / punch is simply bad. I added a sub and now it’s great. But if you love good audio on your drives, seriously consider this!

Regarding wheels - I had 22” sport brights but now that we are in snow I grabbed a set of after-market 20” rims and got 275/60r20 wrangler territory AT. Those are listed as Rivian OEM “A/S” spec and designed for relative efficiency but between cold weather and more rolling resistance it is still a very material drop in range. But the grip and confidence for bad weather is of course the trade off which is worth it for the northeast winter.
