Rivian is working on usb source based audio. Supposed to be a software update in the near term
This can't come fast enough for me.
@KimBrennan I feel your pain here. Thankfully my service isn't quite as bad but the Bluetooth option posted here is a work around for long trips but for a quick trip it's a pain to que up music each time. With USB storage playback it could auto start all the time like every other modern car. Right now (on Android) even with BT you have to start the music from the phone anytime you've used your phone for some other audio since your last drive.
In other words: enjoy R1T bluetooth music driving home, watch a TopGear clip on YouTube (possibly while pooping), R1T tries to play the youtube on your next drive.

I think OP not knowing how to set up playlists in their music app, nor who the truck’s cellular provider is might be a bigger issue than anything with the truck itself :giggle:

A good chunk of people on this forum didn't know there was ANY cellular provider! They will know soon when they get the bill...

Rivian has contracted AT&T for the vehicle connectivity.

You can connect a BT broadcast device to your SXM receiver's audio out and your phone or Rivian will pick that up. I use that same setup for beach music during the summer with my BT speakers.

Same disappointment regarding lack of audio inputs and poor cell connection. Tried the same solutions you did with similar failures. Finally installed SiriusXM with the FM transmitter plugged into the under dash outlet. Works great although it took a little effort to find a clear channel to pair with. I see criticisms regarding the quality of the satellite audio but frankly once I get over 20 MPH the road noise is such that I don’t hear a difference. I suspect Rivian is firmly committed to the subscription services model and will closely restrict infotainment inputs unless they can get a cut of the action. Thankfully FM radio, although not perfect, is a way around that. Not a big fan of additional monthly fees.

Sign up for a free Spotify account and download music. You can make whatever playlist you want in whatever order you want and stream it via Bluetooth to the truck.
But what about commercials? Or talking DJs? Or second breakfast?

Give it a little bit, you'll be paying here too. Expected this to be announced as one of the "Membership features" soon to be billed
Membership was canceled on favor of a la carte options.

Many many years ago I bought lifetime subscription for my Sirius device(s). Then the Sirius XM merger happened, but my lifetime subscriptions still exist. No monthly fee. I broke even on the subscription cost after 4 years. It's been 13 or 14 years now with free satellite radio for me. Until now.

In regard to connecting a BT transmitter to the SMX receiver, tried that. The Rivian infotainment unit would not even recognize it let alone pair with it. Interestingly my iPhone and the camp speaker had no problems.

I've tried 2 different BT broadcast (transmitter) devices. Neither was seen by the R1T.

The paperwork for purchasing my R1T mentioned VERIZON, and not AT&T. Your assumption about my lack of knowledge is irritating. I work with computers daily (and usually far more than 8 hours a day). The fact that I haven't NEEDED to set up the music app on my iPhone is not your business. Last time I set up personalized music lists was when I burnt my own CDs (of music tracks on CDs I own). That was 20 years ago, as I've used Sirius for the last 13 or 14 years.

I see >NOW< on the display it mentions AT&T, but I've also gotten an OTA update since I bought it, and I don't recall it saying AT&T on the display originally. As the paperwork DID mention Verizon and did NOT mention AT&T, I could see no reason Verizon to be mentioned except for the cellular service providing internet connectivity.

If you still have one of the devices... pair it with whit your phone as @Frisbie did, then see if your Rivian will pair w/your phone for BT audio. I know that's the long way around... but it might work.

Already tried, and no, in transmit mode they wouldn't pair (or be seen) by the iPhone. In receive mode, they could be, just not transmit mode.
