Nicely said. We have always thought "first come, first served".

That's only fair - and some sort of compensation for an early adopter being pushed to the back of the line would be nice. I think it gets complicated with manufacturing and batch production. I don't know what their facility is like, but I could see potential inefficiencies with manufacturing both adventure and explore trims simultaneously. Just a guess that building machines in the sequence they were ordered wouldn't be the fastest.

Makes business sense to do more profitable vehicle first, just like Tesla did. Hell Tesla even cancelled a model Y res and told the holders to pound sand and pay more for the FSD upgrade and the car itself even though they had a reservation at the lower price.

Good point - early adopters are traditionally going to buy the loaded machines too. The same thing happens in the powersports industry. The first to be built and sold are the highest spec models with the highest profit margin.

It's bad enough being an early supporter who is pushed to the back of the line, but to have to pay more for the "privilege" would be a real kick in the pants. I would hope that Rivian has more integrity than Tesla, and not pull a stunt like Tesla did on their Model Y reservations.
