So I tried a few Tesla superchargers that are listed in the rivian app. I plug in and it will error saying unplug and retry. I leave it plugged in and after a few seconds though it will start charging. I’m using a a2z adapter.

Is this normal behavior using superchargers? I don’t have this issue on a RAN.

Not typical but I have had it happen a couple of times when on a long trip in my R1S.

I just got back from a 7k mile trip in my Tesla Model S and it happened on that car 3 times as well, one location (Ozona, TX) I actually had to move to a different stall to charge.

I’ve just got used to waiting for the charge to actually start up before walking away in both of my vehicles.

Agreed. Always verify that it is charging before walking away. I also periodically check the app while it is charging if we've stopped for a meal. It can stop in the middle of charging for a myriad of reasons.

Are you sure to always open/start the Tesla app and set up the charging through that, BEFORE inserting the plug/adapter? That could also trigger errors as it gets confused if it should be charging through Rivian payment, or through Tesla app.
Yep waited for the app to say plug in. Also get the error and then starts charging when I use plug and charge with Tesla.

Might have to do with needing to check compatibility with early Teslas that don't do ccs. It fails that test and then switches to CCS.
