Tesla adapter stopped working with Destination chargers? Getting red ring from my R1T. In the past it’s worked great. Wondering with new updates something may have changed??

I have had the occasional issue with mine at work, had a little buildup on one of the needles on the adapter. Little electronic cleaner and good to go

I know there is a setting on the Tesla home charger that allows you to select to allow charging on everything or Tesla only. I can't speak to the destination chargers but something to keep in mind.

This is a lightly used, like new condition adapter. Destination chargers I’ve tried all show green and are in great condition. This seems like my truck just stopped liking the adapter. Luckily I’m not stranded but too close for comfort!

Have you left it plugged in? When I used mine it would go red for almost a minute then turn green and start charging.

When I first started trying it I thought it was not working and was removing it. One try I left it plugged in an it started to work. The next few times I tried it just left it plugged in and saw the same behavior, first turns red then starts charging.

Tried leaving it in for several minutes and on different chargers. Bummer b/c it worked great the first 2 times I used it late 2022.

Are you plugging it into the Tesla charger first, waiting at least 30 seconds before plugging it into the Rivian? It seems to like to boot up and sync first.

I did try waiting a couple minutes after plugging the adapter into the tesla charger. No luck. Even though the destination chargers were showing green, maybe they were the problem?? I’ve reached out to Lectron and will ask the hotel if they were having charger issues last night and will post if I solve this mystery.

After seeing this thread I decided to try out my Lectron adapter. Currently on a Tesla L2 charger at the hotel across the street, charging at 9kW. So mine appears to be working. Currently on 2023.10.1

BTW being a real dick in the process as there were 2 Tesla spots and one was currently iced and 6 or so J1772 spots with many open.

I wouldn't worry since all Teslas can use the J1772 with the included adapter, it may not be free or as fast though.

I had an 80A TeslaTap that was about 1 year old and it wouldn't fit in the Rivian J1772 port due to the different sized ground pin. Tesla Tap was able to replace the ground pin in my device for me, which was a pretty cool bonus. I only had to cover shipping both ways.

The TeslaTap has never failed me once - I've used it probably 7-8 times with Tesla Gen 2 and Gen 3 wall chargers.
