I have been having an issue with Spotify for some months now where the Spotify playlists (radio etc, the dynamically updating ones) do not behave as expected.
often when I pick a song it plays a different one, or they do not play in order (shuffle is off). It seems to impact the first 5-10 songs in the list, when I get far enough down it works right.
multiple resets (infotainment and full) have not improved- it is better for a few hours then is odd again.
Anyone else seeing this? Any known fix?

I have it that bug intermittently as well and don't think there's a known fix. I've also tried doing a system reset and that doesn't seem to solve it, which makes me think it's something in the coding or on the server side. It also happens randomly & fixes itself randomly with no apparent rhyme or reason.

The workaround I've found is that you should be able to queue however many songs you want to play next and those should play through once you skip the incorrect song that it popping up with you touch the playlist.

Thanks!

my working theory is that the underlying Spotify playlists are changing but the display is not. The songs it does play are what you might expect for that playlist, just not what is shown.

Yeah -- another place I've seen / noticed it (that would line up with your theory) is on Release Radar and Discover Weekly playlists that update every week. Sometimes the display will show the current week's list, but will start (incorrectly) playing the first song from the prior week when you tap it.

Granted that still doesn't explain why tapping a song halfway down the playlist starts the first song, nor why the issue pops up on more static playlists that haven't been updated either.

Mine has been buggy as all hell too. I normally listen to Japanese lessons, and while Spotify does pull in files from sources outside of what I loaded (normal for free tier), it's started loading very unrelated content (Italian, Portuguese, Russian, jazz tracks even). Drives me nuts. I wish Rivian would just open up the USB playback feature. Would solve all of this garbage.

Workaround? Play via your phone/bluetooth. That works for me.

Yeah, already do that. I switch to BT music, but that requires taking my eyes off the road. Even if just for a second or two, I like to avoid that whenever possible. And god forbid the BT drops for whatever reason and you have to restart it.... Yes, USB playback is boomer , but what's the point of advancing tech if it adds handling and thus, risk? In a sedentary environment (office, home, bed), it's fine. When driving a 7k lb monster, different story.

I'm preaching to the choir, I know.

Ideally the built in apps would just work and then we don’t need either!

Log out of native Spotify app and log back in. I have to do this every week to get the current Discovery Weekly to play.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try.

one more- sometimes when someone skips songs from the rear screen it will get stuck in a skipping loop and just skip about 20-30 songs in a row one by one. Anyone seen that?

So in good news all of these issues seem to be fixed now as of version 2025.14! Very pleased about this!
