Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Really was a great day. I started the “fun” part of the drive on Highway 76 in the Pauma Valley of inland San Diego County. Then took South Grade Rd (second pic, tons of fun twisties) up toward Palomar Mountain State Park and descended toward Lake Henshaw. From there I continued out to Anza-Borrego State Park to catch the superbloom.

I will add that so many people pulled off to the side to let me pass. I guess I was enjoying my truck a bit too much. 🤷‍♂️

I took the truck out for a several hour drive this morning enjoying the drive and the scenery. The desert superbloom is winding down but still very pretty. A lot of my photos came out weird and out of focus bc I messed up my camera settings, but still figured I'd share.

Observtions:

The truck is SUPER comfortable to drive. Loved everything about it. This was the first time I really pushed it and the handling way surpassed my expectations.

Highway assist worked great. I'm sure almost all SoCal highways are mapped, so no issues there. The lane keep assist (not autosteer) is crazy aggressive. This could be because I was whipping around mountain roads going too fast, but I could feel it turning into the curves for me a lot of the time. I don't really mind, just an observation.

The steering is super communicative compared to my Tesla. I can feel the wheel vibrating in my hand over every road imperfection. The Tesla steering is virtually numb in comparison. It's very heavy and precise, but numb. I feel like I may still take it in for a road force balance to alleviate some of the vibration.

EVGo worked fine on my first go around with public charging. Still much prefer the Tesla network and will likely use that exclusively (when road tripping) once I get an adapter.

Overall I love my R1T a lot.
