Here are the models I could make out below. Maybe some of you with more knowledge can help identify the others:
  • 2025 Tesla Model Y
  • 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5
  • 2025 Chevy Equinox RS EV
  • Volvo XC40
  • Audi Q4 e-tron
  • BMW iX
  • Porsche Macan
  • Mercedes GLE
  • Jeep Wagoneer
Interesting to see so many different vehicles that are practically identical in width with slight variations in length. The R2 definitely looking to outclass everything else in rear cargo volume and possibly front trunk volume too.

Motortrend shared this over a year ago. I swear there used to be a legible copy out there, but I can't find it.

Thanks @Trinculo73 and @scottf200 , edited the first post.

I continually hear how the 2nd row in R2 is much more comfortable, even compared to R1 vehicles. Unfortunately I never been in the passenger seats on any of the competitor models either, so hard to have a reference point.

I get they are comparing to similar EVs in the segment, but I’m an early reservation holder who owns an R1T and wouldn’t consider one of those vehicles. My comps are LR Defender, GX550, Ineos … but I’m replacing a LC200 and want something smaller. Will be interesting to see how the market ends up, just hoping it feels bigger than the new 4Runner.

Doug did a review of the 4Runner Trailhunter. You can see him in the back seat here to compare to his video on the R2. It looks like there is much more back seat room in the R2.

The other major negative for me when I considered 4Runner is how the rear seats fold. They tumble, so no flat floor for sleeping or carrying loads and in the final tumble the seats shorten the length of the load area behind the first row. Consumer Reports has a video showing the compromises here. The Trailhunter and any of the other versions using the hybrid also raise the floor of the rear area significantly, you can see this in Doug's video too.

The R2 is looking more roomy to me in the cabin, with more useful room in the rear cargo area, despite the larger 4Runner numbers, but it probably depends on use case.
Some stats for comparison.

His guesses go down. You have them listed as across which is why they don't match. You can read the car names on the left column.

Interesting. I used to daily a 2022 Ioniq 5 and a 2024 iX. Should feel right at home I guess.

My only Rivian experience is Turo-ing an R1T for a day to see what it was like 2+ years ago. I've made a reservation to demo an R1S later this week now that there's a service center in my area.

It's time to stop procrastinating and just buy one. You won't be disappointed.
