Shipping mode experiences?

Hi - I have a trip coming up and was thinking about taking the Rivian to the airport for 5 days. I’m concerned about vampiric battery loss. Would shipping mode basically keep my battery alive? Any experience with this mode?

Did you try shipping mode and, if so, please tell us about it? I have a ten day trip to Iceland coming up but can charge before getting to the airport so not critical. My last 10 day trip with the truck at home in the carport but not plugged in lost 2+ miles per day so not bad. However, just sitting in the NC sun for a couple of days seems to sap up to 10 mi. Per day.

I ended up not wanting to risk it so I had somebody take me to the airport.

In the summer, shipping mode dropped the 24hr parked power consumption of our R1T from about 2.5% to less than 1% SOC. In lower temperatures it seems to drop from 4-5% to 2.3% in shipping mode. GG off in both cases.

I only ran the two tests so more data is definitely needed.

I know Alex on autos did NOT see any appreciable change with shipping mode and I wonder why my experience is different.

The vampire drain has to be fixed. I charge at work and never at home BUT

I too am going on a long work/study trip for 3 weeks.

Here is my thinking; plug in Rivian on 110v 15amp outlet, reduce R1S amps to 8, and set charging from 12am-3am daily to top up to 80% at lowest electrical cost. 8amp=2mi/hr, thus refilling 6mi/day.

Alternative let it ride, losing 10mi/day for 20 days and charge when I return home.

Either way what a waste of energy.

You guys are still getting significant vampire drain? Mine's never been more than 1 mile a day.

Rivian service says that ~1% a day is normal. Even after most recent update.

I think I want to see a deep sleep button, on screen and in app that shuts everything down, to give me peace of mind. (this is closer to shipping mode than normal sleep mode)

The understanding would be, 30 seconds to boot back up into normal mode.

I tried this (shipping mode) for 9 days. I saw no impact to battery. (I still have vampire drain)

I did notice the air suspension did not refill and the car was very low.
