Second coolant leak, repeat issue, must return to same SC

Hi, first coolant leak early December. Due to faulty o-ring on coolant hose. Now second coolant leak from same area about 60 days later. I’ll find out if it was the exact same cause. Is this a known issue for the R1 to be leaky with the changes in outside temperature? Seems like a problem they’ll solve easily if they already haven’t.

BTW, I wanted to take it to either the Melrose Park, IL or Normal, IL location. Rivian stated I would have to get the vehicle towed back to Chicago where it was originally serviced. They advised against driving the vehicle.
It’s was really interesting because the tow truck driver refused to drive my R1 after I told him driving a few feet isn’t going to hurt anything. I had to drive the R1 to position it at the foot of the flatbed truck. I’m He then connected his grappling hook and pulled the R1 onto his flat bed with the winch. If I was able to drive the R1 out of my driveway to position it, then he could have certainly hopped in the car and drove it up his flatbed ramp. The previous TT driver (back in December) just took my key fob, hopped into the R1, and drove it up the ramp. (Maybe more experienced and confident in his ability to align it properly.)

by the way, the Rivian service support told me they have a new “process” where a VOR (vehicle off road situation) prioritizes the service appointment in front of squeak and panel gap tickets. They consider a fluid leak to be a VOR and tow immediately to the service center. Now we will see how long it takes them to get to it.

I don't think coolant leaks are common. I haven't heard too many complaints about them on this forum.

I had the same coolant leak. It was only discovered during a mobile recall repair where the tech had to remove the plastic underbody panel. It appeared to be a very slow leak. He topped off my coolant and set me up with a service appt. The coolant reservoir is located under the plastic top cover on the passenger side of the frunk. He left me with half a bottle of coolant, just in case. Because the closest service center was over 2 hours from me, I continued to drive the truck, hoping a closer "coming soon" service center would open up. I had to add a bit of coolant one more time, and recently, I had the truck in for service at the new Malvern, PA service center, and they replaced the defective o-ring.

Ok thanks for the tip in case this happens again. Minor Coolant leaks in ICE vehicles (I’ve had many) were never a concern because we knew where the hoses were located and knew how to monitor the reservoir fill level. The Chicago service center had it repaired in one day. I think their new “process” IS working better.​

This is what I experienced also with my motor fault and system fault errors. Roadside immediately scheduled a tow when I was on the phone discussing the errors.
