Just picked up my R1T from the local tire shop, getting a rotation at 6,000 miles (4 wheel only, did not rotate in the spare). I took in my set of lift pucks (bought last fall from 1EV, via Amazon). The shop said as long as I had pucks, no worries, they did cars with pucks frequently.

Per the tech, no need for balance on any wheels, and the wear was very minor and even between all tires. This is on the 21” road tires.. That’s good, since probably 80% or more of miles were in conserve mode, and the buzz here is that conserve dramatically increases front tire wear.

I'll add here that I also had my first tire rotation at a Discount Tire. They did awesome and no issues at all. I've seen a lot of prior posts from people warning about changing the tires and they seem to recommend avoiding tire shops, but I lack the equipment and really don't want to store stuff just to change tires. I helicoptered the shop attendants a bit during the process, but I could tell right away, they were informed. It even looked like they had a ticket print out with the steps and requirements available. Immediately, the first guy jumped into the truck raised it and I assume put it in the Tire Changing mode. Then a couple of other attendants had the pucks and used four floor jacks to lift the entire truck off the ground. The whole process took about 20 mins and no balance needed. Truck has driven fine since the rotation.

Very interested on how long the 21”s will last .

Thanks! I'm just about to do my first rotation at 5000 miles. Pucks on order from RivianDesign. Any recommendations on 4-tire vs. 5-tire rotation? On my ICE vehicles
I always did 5. I'm interested in recommendations for the R1T.

I did my first rotation at 11K miles since I didn't have pucks until then, 90% of it was conservative driving and the tread for the fronts were already down to 4/32. I drove another 1000 miles on them and just recently replaced them with 2 new ones. I'm also not going to use conservative at all anymore and just take my trips in all purpose to try and even the wear on the tires.

Thanks - this is helpful as I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to this part. So does that mean that Discount location had their own pucks? Or did you buy/bring my own? I will call the one around the corner from me to ask, but was just curious as to your experience.

I'm at about 6,000 miles now and would like to get this done.

On my ICE pickups and SUVs over many years I always did 4 tire rotation and kept the spare as a spare, but there are other opinions ?

Thank you for sharing. Can you provide the amazon link for the pucks? Have been looking for a set as well.
