Brilliant!A new video from UK's Car Dealer Magazine just dropped.
What is RIVIAN – and will it work in the UK?
That's just it. I'm not sure they need to compete with the Chinese options if the Rivian brand is positioned correctly. Nobody buys a Range Rover because it's a particularly good car; they're temperamental and don't hold their value, but go to any private UK school and you'll see more of those than anything else. I can't speak to the rest of Europe, and I'm a bit detached from the UK these days, but it feels like Rivian could do really well if positioned correctly, as a premium brand, and, to some extent, the anti-Tesla brand.A quintessentially British review. My AI like summary would read like this (Imagine typical British accent and delivery cadence):
Here's a clever American Truck, too large for us Brits, but the R2 and R3 are perfectly sized for European roads, but will Rivian survive long enough to export them, and if so, will they be able to compete with cheaper Chinese offerings.
Questions posed as statements, understated pretentiousness, playing exactly as you would expect.
I'd wager that the R1 would do well too with the RR crowd because it's literally the same size. Do agree that the other models have a fair chance.Speaking from a UK perspective, the R2 would do SO well over there, as would the R3. I can easily see the Range Rover set going to a well-spec'd R2 - there's really no Chinese option, and even if there were, it lacks the prestige those owners want.
And R3 is just well-sized for the European market, and anyone that drove in the 90's and early 00's would love a modern day equivalent to the classic Golf GTI, which all us boy-racers had back in the day!
