Two experiences with @Discount Tire -- both VERY positive!

*** 1 ***

We live on the southern Washington Coast. Our fastest route to the Portland Service Center (PSC) crosses the Oregon Coastal Range, which requires 3PMSF tires any time you're not carrying chains. All winter. Regardless of actual weather.

We live pretty close to a Costco and have a long relationship with Costco. Not so close to Discount Tire, which we'd never used.

So we planned this carefully. We arranged to pick up 22" wheels and Rivian tire pressure sensors when we picked up the R1S on 2024-02-16. (Not easy to arrange. Grateful for a patient Rivian Guide.) We bought 3PMSF tires (Michelin X-Ice Snow) and had them shipped to the Costco store nearest to PSC. We got a tire service appointment for the afternoon of our delivery day....

... and that plan fell apart when Costco Tire staff realized that even with our JackPucks, they weren't prepared to work safely on their first Rivian.

In response to panicked phone call, PSC suggested Discount Tire. So we loaded four unmounted 33" diameter tires, along with four still-boxed wheels and all weekend paraphernalia, in the R1S and the Bolt (it wasn't easy). We went to Discount Tire in Hillsboro, Oregon without an appointment and with other companies' tires and wheels.

Discount Tire in Hillsboro welcomed us as walk-ins. They swapped the new tires and wheels for the original 21" AS tires and wheels. It took less than two hours. It only cost $160 for the labor cost for all four. The restrooms were clean. They included lifetime tire service (including rotation) for that price. We were impressed -- and that's an understatement!

Discount Tire got us on our way before closing time, when nobody else could, and they were pleasant throughout. We are grateful!

In the confusion of our first weekend with the R1S (and dealing with a family member's terminal illness), we misplaced the Discount Tire receipt. That receipt documents our eligibility for future services at Discount Tire.

Wanting all in-car documents to be available in the car, we reached out last night by private message to the Discount Tire team in this forum.

Shortly after opening time this morning, "Matt" from Discount Tire located the document we needed and asked permission to email it to us.

All needed tire documentation is now in the R1S for use whenever needed.

*** THANKS ***

The Rivian owner community is at least three times blessed by Discount Tire:

First, Discount Tire appears to be the first company to learn how to work safely on Rivians -- company-wide. That wasn't easy. But they did it.

Second, Discount Tire helps to sponsor this forum, which helps all of us to deal with the newness of Rivian's technology and design.

Third, Discount Tire keeps a cheerful and helpful presence on this forum, BOTH for general questions AND to help with individual needs.

I wish I hadn't needed the individual help, but I'm grateful and reassured that they were willing to give it.

THANKS SO MUCH, DISCOUNT TIRE!

I have also had great service from Discount Tire in Oregon.

Just keep in mind that Discount Tire in Calif is a very different company, at least for most of the state. Not related at all to the Discount Tire of Oregon.
Discount Tire/Oregon operate as Americas Tire in most of Calif, and I think a few other regions in the country .

Confused? Yeah.

I hear you! It can be a bit confusing. With the exception of a few stores in the San Diego area, we operate under the America's Tire Company banner. To find one of our store near you in the California area, you can take advantage of our Store Locator on the Discounttire.com website.

I've had two blowouts. Discount tire has been great in Georgia. Only issue is that they don't have a drop box at my nearest location which is a pain for the tow truck guys.
