Anyone know why the Tri-Motors in the shop now only show 329 miles (351 in conserve)?

Last time I looked it was 372 (405 in conserve)

I was thinking about trading my QM launch R1S in for a new tri…. But not so much if they reduced the battery size.

On the R1T Tri, the All-Terrain package/wheels/tires reduces the estimated range from 371 to 329.

Adding the All-Terrain package has the same effect to all motor configs.
Got it! Sorry all of them it the shop had the AT package added and I missed that detail when I was looking for some reason.

I think the website redesign Rivian rolled out at the beginning of the summer was awesome. This latest update from last week is messy IMO - it’s easy to miss stuff like this!

Yeah as already said it's the AT package with the 20" tires that causes the drop in range. I also don't really like the new site design as you cannot see the options as easy.

Can a tri-motor use only the single motor in front (aka front-wheel drive) to increase range?

This seems like a viable software configuration option. I am assuming that the rear motors would become passive and there would be no damage to the drive train.

I think that is what it does in conserve mode and then add in the rears as needed. They supposedly upgraded the clutch mechanism to handle the more frequent usage and made them quieter.

In conserve mode the rear motors won't engage unless you get into the throttle past a certain point.

Rear motors engage any time I take off from a start and at any rapid acceleration. While in conserve. According to RJ you now won't burn through tires driving around in conserve. Time will tell, but mine held up well at first rotation (7500 miles).

Thanks, that is great news! If the price is reasonable I want the tri-motor in the R2, but was concerned about range loss. I will already lose range with the off-road wheels / tires so don't want to drop even further.

My wife's Jeep Cherokee operates in front-wheel drive, with the rears engaging as needed in Auto traction mode. Upscale Jeeps have multiple traction modes: Auto, Sport, Sand, Rock, Snow.
