Random Taillight Flash

I've had my R1T for about a week now. Had to turn proximity sensing for PAAK off at home because of constant locking/unlocking, but now I notice that when I'm near the truck the taillights sometimes flash on and off. I'm not sure if it's the truck letting me know it senses my PAAK (although it's not unlocking, per my setting), or something else. Anyone have any insight here?

It's the truck waking up. It isn't exclusively PAAK -- it could also be GearGuard detecting motion. My truck will "flash" the taillights when I walk by, even if I don't have my phone on me.

Yea, at this point there is no way to prevent it from waking up at all, it's the problem with them doing proximity unlocking (even when disabled at home), I wish we could just make it work like the Model 3 and not check until someone attempts to open, I'm sure it's a large part of battery drain.

It is most likely GearGuard Gary doing their job. Next time you notice the taillight flash, quickly look inside the vehicle and see if they popped up on the center screen to indicate they are recording you.

i upgraded from gen 1 to gen 2 few days ago and also noticed that and a few changes re gear guard. gen 1 never flashed lights front or back with no PAAK nor FOB /card approach. the new one does the rear when you approach with no phone etc. kind of like that as its an indication to someone approaching that its watching.
other odd one is that Gary is recording motion but now when i get in there are no notifications on the screen that correspond. im searching out if there is a setting to turn notifications for gear guard on but have not seen one. anyone else experience same?
will say the HD cams are a huge improve and especially while at speed in rain
