Just ordered aftermarket R2 crossbars off Amazon look great and only $499
As of today there was a coupon for $25 off. They will delivery around Sept 10th

I’ll report back after install but excited to get them and not have to wait to for Rivian to get a product that should have been available at launch

tsk tsk tsk

Red flags galore. Nonsensical brand name. Overseas origin. Clearly a knock-off, with unknown engineering and manufacturing. Most of all, no information on max dynamic load limits (i.e. zero testing!!). Wayward cargo and damages (or, worse, fatalities) waiting to happen. And then “where did seller/manufacturer disappear to?”

What could possibly go wrong? Your unsecured cargo flies off and cause someone behind you to take evasive action. They end up in fatal collision course with an 18-wheeler. This happened to a sibling of mine. Is that worth saving $201?

Weight capacity? I have seen one that are only 100-150 pounds on Amazon.

I hate to say it, but you probably just ordered crap. Good luck with the refund! If you look at the Amazon pics, the attachment point looks like the R1 attachments--which makes me think these photos were copied from the internet or some R1 aftermarket jobs. If you look at this video @ 6:47, you'll see the R2 attachments are more flat--which is why the R1 crossbars won't fit.

I asked about load capacity on the R2 bars. Static load is reported to be 250lbs. Rivian’s bars are rated to 606lbs for static load. Here’s the reply….

Dynamic load is what really matters. You'll never load up the bars and not go anywhere. Official R2 bars, if like the R1's, are probably made by Yakima. Amazon sellers can disappear overnight at first sign of trouble.

Opportunistic sellers of R1 knock-offs also said "250" like it was a canned response and did not seem to understand significance of static vs dynamic load. There's no way static and dynamic limits is the same "250"—another red flag. Physics. Mass at rest vs mass in motion.

thanks Paul. These are just to hold a cargo box on occasion or short drives with an SUP. I’m not putting a roof tent or anything like that on it. So they should be fine for my needs. Maybe in the future when the Rivian ones are available I’ll get them but I have trips and a need for a set now.

Rivian accessories tend to be pricey/over-priced so if there are decent 3rd party ones, why not. Hope those work out for you.
