And neither were the first color to be shown when R1T and R1S concepts were first shown to media and public, at LAAS in Nov. 2018. No, they are choosing to show the silver because : A) It is what the R2 concept car is painted in (repainted from white long ago after a mishap during transit between showings. The very same car. And B) it's still early to show their cards and release info about final specs. THAT is coming next year.I just remember how iconic the Forest Green R1S and Rivian Blue R1T were when they were first shown. I guess they think they are now established enough that they don't need color to make a splash but I find it to be boooooooooorrrrrinnnggggggggg.
I don't really care what the self-described category of the MY is, it's not a SUV.Except for the undeniable fact that they're both quite literally in the same class: Mid-size SUV
I fully embrace the possibility that I am perhaps weird or unique. However, I think that I am probably in the majority when it comes to selecting vehicles in that functionality is the primary criteria, because it doesn't matter how cheap or expensive or luxurious or cool a vehicle is if it doesn't do what I want it to do. A Model Y at any price just doesn't meet my needs. That's not saying anything against the MY, that's just a statement of fact. The only thing "weird" here is your insistence that they're not in the same class and that you don't seem to understand why people compare the two.
Because they are. What do they have in common other than four wheels and powered by a battery? Might as well compare the R2 with a TM-Q. Both are fine vehicles, but not interchangeable.idk why people keep insisting that the Model Y and R2 are of different universes
I get it now... You're one of those people who thinks if you yell your incorrect opinion loud enough that it somehow takes the place of normally spoken facts.I don't really care what the self-described category of the MY is, it's not a SUV.
Perhaps is this modern world, where everything is now being described as an SUV because that's what people think they want, but if you go back to what differentiates a SUV from other classes, specifically the "sport" and "utility" parts of the name, I don't see how you can claim with a straight face that MY is a SUV.

Quite simply, can a MY do this? and would you want to attempt it if it was your own car and $ you are risking? Just because they are of similar size and price, and that some might cross-shop them, doesn’t mean they are equals in design/engineering intent and capability. Anyone thinking the same… how much thinking was involved? Just ponder the approach and departure angles. One is not like the other.Because they are. People cross shop the Highlander and 4Runner all the time. Same thing. Rav4, CRV, R2, Model Y all get crossed shopped. The "fact" is that there is no concrete definition of SUV, but any source you look at will list higher ground clearance and off-road capability as two of the distinguishing features. That's not a MY.
And the "fact" is that true SUVs have gradually moved more towards sedans over the years, while sedans have moved towards crossovers/SUVs.
MY is a passenger carrier. Nothing wrong with that, but it's just not a SUV.
Let me suggest that YOU are the one with the weird view that the MY is a SUV and can be compared to an old-school Wagoneer or Bronco or Scout or 4Runner.
The "dumbing-down" of the SUV over the years is one of the main reasons I found the R1 so attractive.
Check yourself.I get it now... You're one of those people who thinks if you yell your incorrect opinion loud enough that it somehow takes the place of normally spoken facts.
Good thing the charge port isn't the most important thing in a car. That redesigned charge port looks terrible.
Yes! Let’s see some real colors.Meh. If all we get out of this is the same silver color we've already seen in a static display that's a giant nothingburger IMO.
I'm old enough to remember when Rivian embraced bold colors instead of boring white and silver.
When it opens, it's certainly not as cool looking as the R1, but it appears pretty well integrated into the panel when shut. I'm more concerned with the location being so far back on the rear quarter panel and the proximity to the bumper...What might normally be a minor fender bender could easily incapacitate the charge port door or even damage the port itself. I'd hate to think that a parking lot bumper rub from an large SUV or truck could possibly render the R2 un-chargable (if that's a word). That redesigned charge port looks terrible.
