FYI, for those that pick a truck by the shop, you can always ask your guide to add the manual tonneau to your config for the $800 price, should you want it.

I asked my guide this, but she have ghosted me for about two weeks now. I see a vehicle on the shop but I want to add that manual tonneau to it. I really don't like this guide system.

I can’t speak for California specifically, but I’ve been told no money exchanges hands in person. If you pay via cashiers check, I’d assume you have to mail it Rivian prior to delivery.

ACH is a fairly seamless process. Wires are a funds sent and they’re gone. If you mess up something the money can be gone. Our guide has told us Rivian has an easy ACH process setup, so that is the preferred payment method.

I hand carried my check. Risky, but had to pick up next day and Rivian needed to see movement in FedEx system and I didn’t want to risk something going wrong. If you want something done right, so it yourself…

Any updates for folks in the Dallas area? My VIN and 8 steps opened up on 11/13. Still waiting for the 8th step to unlock. Guide said it was “in transit.” Whatever that means. Am anxious.

We got matched to a truck that matched our configuration, minus the spare, that’s at the factory in Normal. We told our guide we’ll take it. Expecting 8-Steps tomorrow and pick up next week. ?

Our guide also gave us some interesting insight, 9 out of 10 trucks he sees don’t have the underbody. It’s not that popular of an add on. Spare tires are delayed due to supply of the jacks and accessories, not the tires and wheels. Guides also had access to more than 100 R1S this morning and the factory has been almost all R1S this month.

Woke up this morning to an email from Rivian saying that spare tire purchases are being moved to the gear shop and that the spare is being removed from my config. Seems to support the insight regarding the shortage noted above. Sounds like they are making this change to get more trucks out the door.

So now, other than colors and wheels, are all R1Ts/R1Ss created equal? What options aren't considered adventure gear - underbody, PPF, tonneau? Is it as simple as a stockpile of wheels getting bolted onto color combinations and getting sent out the door?

Yea sounded incorrect as some RB deliveries are taking place soon too. Funny thing is I didnt even ask for anything regarding availability specifically, they just responded to another request and added that theyre still looking for a RB for me, but there are none available. Oh well.

We locked on a RB earlier this week. And for reference our truck was built 12/1/22. Just waiting on Step 8 so we can schedule factory pickup next week.
