To me, it would look more proportional to have a an additional 2 inches. The 9.8 inch clearance is fine but a little more on water fording depth would be helpful and matters to me. At 69 inches, it is an inch shorter than the Bronco Sport. I'm sure some combination of after market stuff will allow me to tweak the look and function.

BTW, for those interested, the table below for the new Toyota 4Runner models (likely similar price range to R2) provides some context regarding ground clearance for those planning a jaunt off road in an R2 and wondering if its enough versus an R1. The Trailhunter tire from the factory has an OD of ~32.5".

Its worth acknowledging that the 4Runner solid axle will give better articulation, but the R2 doesn't look too shabby for those contemplating softroading with it, which is something I'd like to do.

Tesla owner here (M3 SR LFP and MY LR AWD). I really like the Rivian M2. Perfect size for my wife and me. The problem is, if there is no repair/service facility within +150 miles of where I live (south of Tucson, Rivian service is in Phoenix) I can't consider any make vehicle for our use.
:(
I hear you Rich. Here in northern VA I had a 50 min drive to the closest SC last week, but they failed to fix my issue. So today I drove 1+45 to go to the next closest one (pretty new). Good news is a third one is opening in a month or two and it’ll be 15 mins away. So bottom line, they are adding more service centers all the time.

The R2 is definitely 4runner size and the R1S is Landcruiser size. It's noticeably wider on the road. The extra foot of length is nice for storage but the R2 is not tight on the inside. It's more roomy than a 4Runner

R2 has more cargo space than an R1S with the third row up.

Indeed. We own a GX470 which is a 4Runner with a third row but there is almost no usable space behind the third row unlike the R1S. Knee room on the R1S in the three rows is simliar to the GX. A two row is better for storage. The GX is pretty bad at folding away seats but the R1S does a great job making a flat usable surface. It's especially comfortable for sleeping in. The few times I slept in our 4Runner I was pretty sore the next morning and the GX is impossible to sleep in.

This would totally cure me missing my bronco

I'm counting on folks like you to take the Dual or Tri-Motor and create a bit more off-road awesome without compromising the range too much.

Depends on how many people you have with you, but for myself and the wife and our dog, we remove the 470's second row seats which allows 5 foot 10 me plenty of room in there and a full size air mattress fits perfectly. Now, if you're going with more people I can see why that is impossible haha

Not sure people cross shopping an R2 and a 4Runner will be doing so on off road capability. It's also hard to compare a body on frame, solid axle trucklette like the 4Runner with the unibody independent suspension R2. Seems like it's more competition for Wilderness spec Subaru's or similar unibody "off road" trim cross overs.

2 inches taller would significantly impact drag coefficient and expected range.. which would then mean a bigger battery size needed to deliver on competitive range.. which would then mean a heavier and more expensive vehicle to meet the 300 mile minimum range promise... which then either lowers margin or makes it less price competitive, nullifying the point of making the vehicle

Tend to agree, and I'm also pessimistic about how friendly R2 will be to modifications. Based on R1, not very. But we'll see
