I know exactly what happened in the accident. I know exactly what was damaged. I know exactly why the vehicle was totaled by the insurance company. I also know that the body shop inflated their portion of the estimate.

I’m not sure the event data recorder would have recorded anything when the pyrofuse didn’t trigger. The ‘event’ would have registered as a parking sensor telling the driver to stop, followed by a few sensors being unplugged many moons later.

it’s okay, the tesla group had this same mentality until people started understanding vehicles get totaled for silly reasons. Some of which have nothing to do with ‘safety’.
Blanket internet statements are hilarious.

Ignore everyone and continue doing what you’re doing.

Realized many people think that low paid factory workers are the only ones that can assemble a mass produced vehicle, it became tiring defending statements about a vehicle no one else has seen. ??‍

In due time. Right now I don't particularly blame Rivian for trying to protect the brand reputation. They aren't in a position to evaluate who is or isn't qualified to perform repairs and they also can't afford to have vehicle fires or electrocutions lighting up social media because the brand would suffer regardless of who was actually at fault (those details tend to get lost in the hype). Right now the brand is under a microscope as many are still deciding if Rivian is "for real". I also realize there are other motivations for their wanting full control over all service and repairs but I'm ok giving them a few years to establish the brand.

More repaired Rivians means less replacement Rivians being sold. I’m sure Rivian would be more than happy for a vehicle to be totaled, some insurance footing the bill, and a new car scooped up in its stead.

That said, agree with many others and would love to see the project, hope you’re willing to share.

the more totaled rivians and astronomical repair bills, the higher insurance will be on the ones that are on the road. Look at the rate increases that have caught up to tesla models in recent years. High payouts, low salvage values (in comparison to payout issued), rinse and repeat on a mass produced car with so few (parent) insurance companies.

If someone wanted to die from a rivian, it being wrecked is of no consequence. You can remove the frunk plastics in moments and fuse yourself to the vehicle with some HV cables. ?

Let’s not aim for the lowest common denominator. I purchased it, you don’t know better than I do.
If I wanted to whistlindiesel it for views, nothing rivian could do about it.

I don't disagree with what you're saying (or with what you're doing - in fact very interested to follow along). Just saying I also understand why Rivian would take the position they have right now. The general public forms opinions based on headlines and social media, not facts or realities.
