Took delivery on May 17 and the power tonneau cover was installed on Nov 4.

Bought in June, just got my tonneau installed last week (along with other warranty work). They had a limited set of harnesses in Seattle and I got lucky.

For those who have already had it installed - did you have to initiate the replacement, or did Rivian reach out to you to schedule it?

I took delivery on my R1T in late May with the IOU for the PTC. I had install appointments for August and October, both of which were canceled by the SC.

I am currently planning to drop the truck off at the SC on Wednesday, unless I get the call telling me I must be postponed again.

I could have really used a PTC this past weekend, as I had to secure cargo on a trip to Las Vegas. But the possibility of having it for the remainder of my lease is still nice.

June 13 delivery, had my PTC installed last week. I did "reach out" by submitting a service request through the app for it a couple months ago - I have no idea if that bumped me up in line any, however. Best of luck on getting yours.

So, I just got an estimated install date of December 6th back. Let's see if it holds true - it would be great to have it prior to traveling for the holidays.

Looks like the squeaky wheel gets the grease.


Let's keep on reporting in though. I'm really interested to hear how this is playing out for folks...

If i did not submit the service request, I don't think I would get anywhere with the PTC.

Similar story as others... May '24 delivery without the cover, and then have had several appointments cancelled and rescheduled (Aug, then Oct, then Nov). Currently have an appointment for Dec. 3rd - we'll see if it holds.

One thought I had was just punting on the cover and trying to use that value to get some accessories instead. Has anyone tried that? I asked on the last call, and they said to discuss that with the service center. I have not had a chance to do that yet.

The service request for the PTC was already initiated when I took delivery. After that I just sat back and waited. I was bumped back twice but the 3rd time was the charm.

Update: I dropped the truck off Wed afternoon for its Thu am appointment. They’re pretty cagey about how long they’ll need but I figure it may run through Thanksgiving. That’s OK.

Rivian closed the service request without any additional update after no update all week. I've logged another request to follow up on the first, but I fear I might be back to square one ... again.

This is frustrating.

Yes, same with my case. You need to open the ticket to get on their radar. There may be some minor fixes you need done, and you just stack them on the ticket.

The good news is I think the parts crisis which delayed the installs over the past 6 months may be a thing of the past. Looks like new Gen 2 models are being delivered with the PTC installed, just as it used to be.

They asked to confirm a date. I responded with that date was fine and it never got scheduled. Subsequent follow-ups (via text) bounced as there is no active request.

I am not asking where I stand, I want to get it scheduled and installed.
