I purchased my second R1T in May and the powered tonneau, while included, wasn't available. Rivian gave me a 'we owe' slip for it and a rough estimate of 'fall' on paper and a verbal estimate of 'probably around September'. I know there have been some delays due to wiring harness production, but I've already read about folks here and elsewhere with later delivery dates having it installed.

For folks with an owed powered tonneau (not a broken replacement), what's your 'sitch? When was your truck delivered and where did your install happen or what's the latest you were told? I just reached out and I'm looking to compare what they tell me with what they've been telling yinz.

Took delivery in June, install originally scheduled for October with some other work, then got a call a week or so before saying they didn't have those harnesses. Couldn't give me a new date but hinted at no sooner than Jan/Feb.

Took delivery in July with same due bill and “late 2024” advertised as part of the transaction. Crickets until I messaged Rivian service through the app in October. They said they opened a ticket and, about a week later, I got the text message that my cover was ready to be installed. The joke was on me, though, because the earliest appointment I could get at either of the local SCs was in late February. That’s right, four months. So I bought a used manual tonneau cover because it’s almost winter.

I do think that Rivian is in breach of my lease by failing to install the cover before the end of 2024 as promised, but what am I going to do, start a class action lawsuit? Where is Kent Brockman when you need him?

June delivery, due bill with estimated date over the summer, date got pushed 4 times and just got it installed last week. I raised hell for every month in between but they budge on any concessions.

Took delivery in March. Two delayed appointments but R1T is in service right now for install. I’m assuming they have all the parts.

I took delivery in early August and was told "fall". If you don't call them or request, it will most likely be push to the end. What I did is open a "service ticket" for a month or two out for installation anyway and got a call from SC that they will have it at the time of the appointment . Go figured !!!

My appointment is next week for installation and I created the ticket last month

I’ve had a series of PTC work. Took delivery in May 2022 with PTC. Worked well for a year then failed. Was replaced in December 2023. Over the summer it failed again, not retracting all of the way. I just had it replaced again last month. So far so good…

Delivery in May, scheduled install for august in Chelsea, MA along with some other things. Drop it off for the appt and during the 2 weeks they have it they tell me they can not do it because of the harness shortage. Rescheduled for November and just recently changed appointment to december at the service center in Montreal as they are way less over burdened and I am guessing they have a better chance of actually getting it done same day and not holding my truck for 2 weeks (and only a 2 hour drive vs 3.5 hours).

Mine just got installed at the Costa Mesa CA service center last week. I took delivery of the vehicle in May... so about 6 months. At month 4 I had an appointment to get it done and was informed 2 days before that they couldn't do it, so I rescheduled.

Somewhat related, the rep said "congratulations, we put in your powered tonneau cover! Now, you CAN stop the opening or closing of the cover midway through its cycle, but I strongly recommend you DON'T do that. Let it open/close all the way."

:) Doesn't sound like a robust piece of equipment. But, I appreciated the advice.

I can't even get Rivian to follow up about my B Pillar Recall and service suspension warnings on my truck. I guess I do have a working PTC at least.

My point is parts are one potential issue but don't overlook how busy your SC might be as part of the problem.

Delivery in September, going into to service tomorrow so supposedly have the tonneau installed along with correcting a slew of factory defects

This is such a huge miss on Rivian's part... IMHO, the powered tonneau cover was one of the innovative differentiating factors of the R1T from other trucks. They've had more than enough time to get this right. It obviously hasn't been a priority for them and/or the cost to do this right just isn't feasible.

Delivery June 4, 2024.

Initially scheduled for September install. We have several appointments made and canceled by Rivian but eventually installed November 4. Grand Rapids MI SC.

I took delivery at the end of July and it was already installed- maybe because I had to delay my pickup appointment by a few days.
