I took a round trip from home in Olympia, WA to Portland, OR, a total distance of 259 miles. It was warm day, about 85° and I ran the air conditioner for the entire round trip. I consumed 267 miles of range using conserve mode, so running the air conditioner used about 8 miles worth of power. That means it decreased my range by only 3% and I’m quite happy with that.

As a Tesla owner I can’t say I don’t envy you. Assuming AC on and at normal freeway speeds, I’d probably lose like 20% more range

Yeah, likewise we did a ~350-400 mile round trip today with A/C on the whole time in the heat and driving fairly fast. Used the route planning and stopped at a Rivian charger on the way back (free still) and arrived home with lots of range to spare. Convenient, painless, and no range issues to worry about. A couple of minor quirks with navigation (incorrect spoken highway name compared to map view and not aware of a road closure) that cost us some time but the range and pitstop for charging was painless and not so long. Quite happy with range and charging so far for all trips. Soon try a longer trip with towing.

I work with a guy that has a Tesla (Ludicrous mode). He asked what range I get. I told him at 90% I am at about 300 miles. He shook his head and I ask him "what about you?". He said, I am lucky to get 150 miles. He also said that his tesla is a 2014 so the battery might be failing on him......but dang.

We are heading to Disneyland (about 500 miles from our house). According to ABRP we will have to stop 2 times and arrive at D-Land with 10% power.....I am not risking it and we will be stopping probably 3 times or maybe 4......we aren't in a hurry to get there and my wife and daughter have to get out every couple of hours to stretch.

Did you suffer from "charging anxiety"?

No range anxiety on this trip, especially after the first 50 miles or so and see how closely projected range matched actual range.

I work with another guy that has the F-150 Lightning and he drives from San Bernadino to the bay area once a month to be in the office. We have talked a lot about charging. He only charges 1 time on the trip up here and he has told me the best city to charge in with the most reliable charging stations (usually EA).

I have been studying Plug-Share reviews of the stations on our route to see what people are saying and what vehicles people are charging and it seems pretty stable. Luckily we will be traveling during the week so we won't be competing with people needing to charge.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
@defcon888 - will you have an opportunity to swing by the planned RAN near Buttonwillow and get a picture?

I’m sure your family would be thrilled for you to take a detour on your way to Disneyland to get pictures of a non-existent charging station for a random internet person. Ha.

I was actually planning on doing that. My wife wants to drive to the grapevine and then I will take over from there. I will let her know that we can stop in Buttonwillow to switch......LOLOL.
