To those of you in the North East (and everywhere else, for that matter), welcome to Daylight Saving Time and the shortest day of the year! This note is plenty premature, but I’m hoping to plant many seeds and connect with folks ahead of taking delivery of my R1T. In the years to come, my bucket list includes rolling through and stopping in all of the lower 48 states and visiting with many Rivian owners along the way. Be it a cup of coffee, a beer or two, or just a chance to say hello, this is one of the many Adventures I’m looking forward to. Directions to the best Ribs joint in town would also be appreciated.

There’s something about Rivian that represents the Fountain of Youth to me. I feel like I did that Christmas morning when a poorly disguised Schwinn Continental ($10 upgrade over the Varsity, in Rivian Blue, no less!) was waiting near the tree to be unwrapped. The freedom and sense of adventure that vehicle represented was magical at that age. Rivian has made that happen again 50 years later. The bad news is that my parents aren’t around anymore to marvel at it. The good news is they aren’t around to ground me for staying out late.

Knowing these things are coming soon, I dug out my old map collection and have also been scouring Google Earth for backroads and trails all over the U.S. and Canada. While the National & Provincial Parks, Forests, and Recreation Areas will be visited, I’m interested in learning more about those who have also been on this journey of discovery and Adventure (and waiting) from the beginning.
