I was thinking a small locker attached either to the side wall or back wall of the bed would be great for valuables. Sort of like the SUV drawers that bolt to the frame.

Since the car essentially records everything going on around the truck, i just put things out of site, but also interested to see what the aftermarket provides.

I have a gun safe that I put my firearm in as well as valuables when I’m perhaps at the beach or going into a location where a firearm is not permitted. It has a cable lock, but I can’t find any place to actually lock the cable in, somewhere in one of the cargo areas, that is permanently fixed to the R1S. Am I missing anything? Has anyone come up with any solutions?
I picked up the VAULTEK 20 for this exact issue. It slides perfectly under the second-row middle seat and I looped the cable lock through the seat frame (in a way that doesn’t interfere the middle seats folding/sliding) and it works like a charm. I can easily reach back and access it from the drivers seat, and the biometric version makes it super quick and easy.
I’d used the VAULTEK 10 series in a previous vehicle and that worked great for sub or compact, but wanted a bit more room for wallet/etc and/or a full-size.

Thanks for the idea! I’m going to look under that seat today.

How about leaving it in your house when you don't need it?
He already stated if going into a place you can't have... Maybe running errands and 1 of the many stops is a place like if going to a school or church or private business that doesn't allow. He is asking as a responsible owner.

I know you’d initially inquired about the safe going in a cargo area, which makes a lot of sense; but I like being able to secure it in the cabin before exiting the vehicle, draws a LOT less attention than standing in front of an open frunk to transfer from holster to safe in the parking lot of a school/courthouse/police station/etc right?

Would the frunk be a decent option? It’s not something someone could get into easily. I don’t know you’d even need the cable lock if you have it in the frunk.

The gear tunnel, especially near the doors far from the center passthru, is probably the safest place. In (R1T) or under (R1S) the spare tire well too. These are very inaccessible areas, and I doubt smash n' grabbers are aware of how to access these areas.

Hell the frunk is safe too, under the folding mat. You're giving criminals way too much credit.

The center console automatically locks when the truck is asleep (the unlock button is disabled). While it isn’t a “safe” it is a locked container that requires extra time / tools to break into.

If you’re worried about legal transport in restricted areas (Illinois, etc.), I’d second the spare tire bay.

Just a thought. I have an R1t and the latching mechanism for the frunk is very heavy duty. No one can access the frunk without a key and I think it would take a lot more than a screwdriver or even a wrecking bar to get it open. Even if some low life breaks a window and enters the truck they can’t open anything. When transporting long guns I keep them in the gear tunnel and my handgun in the frunk and I feel they are totally secure.

If you fear B&E, I would avoid storing valuables here. A simple crow bar, hell even a catspaw, can pry the center console open.

is that right? That’s awesome, I had no idea!
Makes me wonder how many other little features are there that I’m totally clueless about…
