We decided to try the NiLight hitch receiver step on the back of Opal (our R1T). It is very nicely made and is quite a bit lighter that the cast iron step that we had been using. Showing pictures of both the new one and the old one.

Nice. Where did you find it?

BTW, we spent all day Saturday at Utimate airstream in Clackamas, OR. Awesome dealership/service/custom center. We looked at the Trade Wind 25FB, the Flying Cloud 27FB, the Globetrotter 27FB, and the International 27FB. We were pleasantly surprised at the changes and upgrades since our last (3 yrs ago) visit.

Opal's Nilight receiver step is on Amazon. It is very nicely made. We have also looked at the new Trade Wind. It is a very interesting concept and in just the right model.

Our dear Lucy is a 2015 25FB. Before her we had a 2005 25FB. Between the two Lucy's, we have over 2,200 nights of Airstream camping.

We are considering the new Trade Wind as our third Lucy.

Looks good, thanks for posting. Any effects on the backup sensors? Does it show up in the rear camera view?

The step does show on the camera, but does not interfere with the sensors.

Nice looking. How close is it to the bumper of your truck? When looking from above the step, each side of the receiver. Thanks

The rod of the step that goes into the truck's receiver has 4 adjustment holes. This allows the distance from the vehicle to be adjusted. I have my step set at about 1.5" out from the R1T's bumper. This picture may show it better. This unit also comes with a U bolt to steady the step. It also comes with a locking pin to prevent theft of the step.

We have now had Opal (our R1T) for about seven months. Her Rivian Blue color appears quite a bit different depending on the lighting. She ranges everywhere from deep blue to aqua. Sometimes she looks the Peacock Blue of her 1956 Thunderbird stablemate. Other times she looks totally different. Opal is truly a "horse of a different color". Here are some pictures of our chameleon R1T.
