Still "Processing Estimate". There are so many confirm config emails that went out it looks like Rivian is starting that process earlier to help with their build schedule and batching.

Ya I have a Tesla and it does not have a spare. I have had 2 inspections and it was not part of the inspection log.

Hey Everyone. I live in Cary and have been thinking for a long time about going with a Rivian. I acttually had a reservation (planned on a dual motor R1T, large pack, 20" A/T's) until I cancelled after concerns over towing my boat from Cary to Carolina Beach. I'll probably pick up a Rivian in the next few years after they mature a bit, and maybe drop a cheaper R1T trim.

Has anyone had any issues with taking delivery in NC since we have our weird ass dealer laws restricting competition and direct to consumer sales? Also, has anyone had any issues getting up to Richmond if/when service is needed?

Yes. A true nightmare. Love my R1T, but I *HATE* Richmond SC with a fiery passion.

I have done 6 trips from Cary to CB the past few months. There is a good charging station at the Mad Boar restaurant in Wallace. Towing a boat, you will definitely have to charge there. The biggest issue is that CB is a charging Desert. If you have the ability to charge in CB, you should be fine.
And, agree with the other comments on the Richmond SC; its a pain in the arse to go there.

Are folks in the Raleigh area able to get the mobile techs to come here - when the issue is serviceable by a mobile tech?

(I understand some things need to go to the service center)

We are supposed to pickup our R1T tomorrow in Richmond. Our guide told us that YES they will come to us if the repair / service is 'doable' by a mobile tech.

True?

Yes, but mobile service has limitations and many services can only be done at the SC.

Thank you!

I have had 3 Tesla's - first one in 2012 (early adopter) but that was when they made a SC in Raleigh for Tesla - 5 min from my home! LOL

I guess I get no such luck here.

The mobile Tesla folks could do a lot! I rarely even had to go to the shop that was so close - they would come to me instead. Was hoping the Rivian folks could do the same thing regarding minor repairs / fixes.

Thanks again.

In my experience, no. They've refused to do any mobile service for me. Even the most basic stuff they've said they need the truck in the SC.

My in-laws have a little town house on the island right across the snows cut bridge, Level 2 charging once I'm there wouldn't be an issue. I looked at plug share and noticed that the Mad Board charging station is in use a LOT, plus it's not really fast charging, it's a 62.5Kw charger I think.

That was my concern about towing and is ultimately why I cancelled my reservation. My boat is a shallow water bay boat (Egret Moccasin 210) and weighs about 3000lbs trailer and all. I guess I will hold out for the Max pack to have peace of mind. Maybe Toyota will release their Tacoma EV with 400 miles of range if/when that comes out.

Should we as a group write to the NC politicians and ask that these antiquated laws be changed in order to allow Rivian to build a SC in North Carolina? I have a R1T with almost 10,000 miles on it now and I really do not want it transported to Richmond Va for service. Rivian did come to my home and check the torque on the front end steering nuts when the recall occurred. Having a SC in our state would be wonderful. This is not the fault of Rivian, but the fault of the auto dealers in NC and hopefully with pressure on the politicians this unfair law could be changed.
