Wanted to start separate thread as this just occurred despite having latest update which I believe was intended to fix prior issues per the other monster thread and Wassym's letter.

My Update Version 2023.42.1 is showing several errors including: no infotaiment function, no phone connectivity, no battery status indicator, upon park setting both screens go completely dark, neither soft nor hard nor sleep resets function normally. Paak is more wonky than normal had to use keycard to lock vehicle.

Vehicle drives properly otherwise and shows most other driving functions when shifted into D or R. Otherwise, service says the vehicle is OK to drive but doesn't seem quite right given gauge indicator shown below:

Service says they will push and update patch out to me in "several hours".

I confirmed if it could be done via phone app as the dash is otherwise dark when vehicle is in park, and they confirmed that was correct. Will update as any progress is made.

I have 3 times. Currently have an appointment next April lol. They said they are trying to ā€œescalateā€ it but I am pretty sure it is a software issue and I kept asking if there was any way to get to someone that would know more but hit a dead end.

I called back and by referring to this post I was able to get them to reach out to the OTA team to see if they think a patch might help. ?

Thanks for your post as it is definitely helping me get my issues sorted!

This is a bummer to hear. I always wondered if these vehicles receiving major OTA updates would ever become its own problem for Rivian. I have usually waited for a little feedback in prior updates to ensure that everything was working alright. Each time my confidence builds a little but, this last update has definitely got me gunshy on installing. I think I'll hold off for a while longer given the risk/reward analysis ?

Damn, that is not good. I admit I hesitated when the 42.1 update showed up. I waited a few days before installing. No problems like this after a week.

I hope they get you guys taken care ASAP.

I wish they would add a beta button for this reason. A lot of people feel gun shy but there are plenty of people with the opposite attitude and it would really help to let people choose their level of risk.

Update: they did escalate it which means a service appointment at the end of December instead of April! but I’m still hoping this can be fixed with a software update. The advisor said that they hadn’t heard back from the OTA team. Bummer as I am kind of worried about driving it in this state.

As of late this evening, "the Software Team is still working on the issue". Rivian may recommend a "12V battery reset" prior to any further updates or patches being issued. They are supposed to call back to schedule either a mobile tech or RSC appointment.

Per recent Reddit threads on the matter, there reportedly is also Software Version 2023.42.2 though Rivian Service has thus far not said as much.

The 42.2 was for those who got the dorked 42.0 update. The rest of us got 42.1.

Yup I’m running 2023.42.2 on mine cuz I was part of the 3% that got the messed up update. PAAK isn’t all that better (slightly worse) vampire drain is really bad on mine. I lose between 4-6 miles of range over night now. The last few updates have really made it worse. Also my speaker volume has been dropped and now I’m listening to music at 15-18 volume when I was normally around 8.
