I tethered the Wi-Fi to my phone just to check that any connectivity would work. I was able to get it to connect and work normally right away. But after disconnecting, I was immediately off-line again. When I check my phone, I see that it briefly connected after that and has been down again for another hour Since.

Does this kind of thing happen often?

Edit: internet in the truck is working but the App still showing it’s off line. Tried signing in and out of the app. Any ideas?

What makes it stranger for me our Tesla had no issues today.

this really shows how dependent we are on the LTE connection (weird it's not 5G)

and with no way to mirror your phone or use carplay the car becomes severely limited.

now that Rivian has made all of us hooked on their free data, they can start charging whatever they want to lol

Just connected my R1S to my iPhone’s mobile hotspot. Seems to work for infotainment stuff.

But only while in park

if they would let us do this while driving I’d never lose service. My Tesla has this option.

When the R1 was in development pre-2018, 5G didn’t even exist!

What’s a bit weird is that the R2, R3, and R3X they demoed this month are also on LTE. But, I imagine they were preproduction vehicles that borrowed as much as they could from the R1. I hope they can easily update this for production in 2 years.

Wouldn't be a problem if they gave us control of the eSim, or allowed tethering while in drive.
