Just being curious how to integrate your personal google profile (saved places, routes etc.) into onboard navigation google map. Could you elaborate so I can learn. This has been my big disappointment that I can’t use my personal favorites in Rivian onboard google map. I have 2026 R1S.
Yes. With Tesla you go into the Maps setting and you can login with your email address and PwD just like you do on your phone and website. Once you login it then populates all your personals setting. I spoke a Rivian Service Rep and apparently this will be possible at some point in the future. I’m assuming since the platform is new to Rivian they have a roadmap with how and when they’ll bring in new functionality.

Fucking fix your shit Wassym or the folks at Rivian need a new software lead dev. Instead of a Gary that changes faces in the energy screen, how about audio that actually works when I start the car?
Rivian R1T R1S Just fix the software 1000006182

I just had to come and see what this really long thread was all about. Sometimes we all just need to put our frustrations in writing, or verbally process with our spouse at the dinner counter, to get it off our chests and feel better. Thank you, OP, for ending your post with a /rant, and you deserve space to do so.

Some of the responses I saw... Y'all can do better and be nicer. If you aren't hear to help, then why are you here?

If they are allowed to rant why are we not allowed to rant about having to read it? You don’t get it both ways. If people are well within their rights to make dramatic and entitled posts, the rest of us are allowed to complain about it.

I can't wait until they fix the key proximity issue. I'll get it working (through uninstall/reinstall app, or reset to Rivian, or reboot my IPhone) and it will work for a random amount of time. Sometimes the fix works for days, sometimes only hours. Sometimes when it auto locks it doesn't hoot. So I will lock it from the app and it hoots, but not all the time. It really is random and doesn't give a hoot!

I had that issue, but mine was related to the Bluetooth from my Motorola RAZR phone. I upgraded to a new Android One+ and have not had that problem. What I DO hit on now is that my R1T tends to sleep a LOT. It won't wake up until I open the app and say WAKE UP or push the unlock button. Mostly happens when parked at home.

GM offers the same capability, then when you are logged in, you get the Waze alerts and reporting features on the nav display as well (on GM vehicles you can also install Waze in the vehicle and log into it). And trip planning, including charging stops, can then be done on your phone in Google maps and send it to the vehicle.

As @Rade suggested, this may be a phone issue rather than a truck issue. If your phone is older, it is a good excuse to upgrade. The other thing to try is a full reboot of the truck.

My PaaK has been practically flawless until I got it back from the Service Center yesterday. I don't know what they did, but I had PaaK issues yesterday that I never had before. Even with the service guy standing right next to me. 😂 After it did it a few more times I decided a hard reboot was in order. I am sure that will clear it up. 🤞

It’s not a phone issue. I have an iPhone 16Pro and have issues. Sometime the truck will take 5 seconds to unlock the doors while I’m literally stand next to the drivers side door. And then once in awhile It will unlock at least 10 feet before I get to the door. I think it has more to do with the truck being in sleep mode. It’s really frustrating. Simply tech and Rivian makes it feel like it’s new tech. Arg!!! Apparently phone key should hopefully fix this problem if they have ultra wideband constantly searching even when the truck is in sleep mode. But watch Rivian not do that.

I agree that the software is slow and buggy but my biggest complaint is the app. The functions hardly EVER work. I always run into some sort of error that the vehicle is offline or non-responsive when I try to do anything via the app. It's definitely less than 50/50 whenever I try to unlock via the app or turn on the AC or vent the windows or ANYTHING. Why doesn't this work!?
I haven't used the app in several months. Just deleted it from the phone, removed the widgets, and moved on with life. Nothing worse than expecting something to work and it never does, so I just stopped expecting it. Just this side of useless anyway.

Just trying to help: have you checked the settings on your phone to make sure the Rivian app is not being put to sleep? It has to have full permissions (location, power, etc.) or it won't work reliably. (You probably already checked this, but just in case.)

You should not be having these issues, IMO. PaaK has been very reliable on my truck, and you should have the same experience especially with a new phone.

BTW - it often unlocks when I am 10 feet away also. I think that is normal. But standing next to the truck waiting for it to unlock is not normal.

I’m confused. You can’t put the App to sleep. I have location services always on. Other than that I don’t even know how you would put an App to sleep. And what do you mean has full permissions? There is no setting for this that I can find. And the Rivian automatically goes to sleep to save on phantom battery discharg.

Maybe that’s what’s happening to me it’s going to sleep and too stubborn to wake up. I am using an iPhone 16 so shouldn't be an issue with my phone.

Sorry about any confusion. I don't have an iPhone. On Android, an app can be put to sleep to save battery life. Maybe that is not a thing on an iPhone.

Ah ok. Yeah Apple automatically shuts down the apps when they’re hanging in the background. The only thing I guess to do call “wake it” would be to bring it up on the screen. That doesn’t make it anymore efficient. 😏

Apple has app setting called background refresh. Rivian recommends to set it on which I did. But using PAAK iPhone as key has nevertheless been totally unpredictable and chaotic.

My other experience is with Ioniq 5, totally predictable and reliable for 2.5 years so far. What Hyundai did is using FOB to interact with door handle with FOB stowed in your pocket or bag. Your finger touches dimple on handle it unlocks and touch again it locks. Simple like toggle switch. Important thing is it doesn’t need to wake up car to unlock. Waking up happens only after unlocking when you getting into car. How clever. (I don’t like proximity auto unlock so I disabled it)

I think Rivian unlocking happens only after car’s waking up. Rivian’s wake-up is very unpredictable sometimes taking much longer than others.
