Try forgetting every BT device paired with your phone, performing a hard reset of your phone, and then pairing the phone with your Rivian. After that, I was able to pair my AirPods and other devices without issue.

Has anyone given up using their phone as a key? Would like to hear what they primarily use.

I keep a card in my wallet as backup. Can’t use the wristband because I don’t have it yet?. Have never used the fob. Phone works almost the time for me but I have to go into the app and hit the unlock button lately. Not a huge deal but would rather the Auto Unlock work.

I keep losing the bluetooth Key connnection in my Iphone 12 pro. I delete the key and reinstall and it works for a day or two then it cannot connect anymore. The one weird thing is the R1T still locks when I walk away but will not unlock when I return. I do also carry the fob.

Same. No wristband yet and no timeline on it. Phone works 1/5 times. I have had to pull the card out a couple times when the app was taking too long to unlock.

It's not a huge deal, but it is annoying and a little baffling. I've had proximity lock and unlock on 3 different cars over the last 10 years and they all worked flawlessly. This technology is not new.

I gave up on using my iPhone as a key. I have a number of keys I use on a daily basis so I attached them to the FOB like a traditional key ring. Other than being a little bulky in my pocket the FOB works fine to access the Rivian.

Delete, Forget, Re-pair of the phone key helped me quite a bit.

Things definitely improved with the latest OTA update, but then the latest app update seems to have taken a few steps backwards. One day the truck will unlock as I’m approaching, as intended, and then the next day I can stand buy the driver‘s door for 30 seconds before it unlocks. Not sure what the fix is, but hopefully it comes soon.
You're describing my life.

It's so unreliable.

If the truck hasn't unlocked by the time I'm 5 feet away, I know I'll be waiting another 20 seconds so I start digging out the key.

Same, and sadly I have to hit unlock on the fob 5-6 times sometimes before even it works. If I open the app on my phone it seems like it will buffer while “waking up” so I wonder if that has something to do with it. Seems odd. As others have mentioned, I’ve had 4-5 other vehicles with proximity lock before and never had any issues. So annoying to be standing next to my truck awkwardly for 45 seconds to a minute waiting for it to unlock…

I received delivery on Sep 20th and neither my delivery specialist nor Rivian tech support could help me get my iPhone 13 Pro paired. Rivian Support suggested these same steps, but still nothing. I’ve also tried removing all Bluetooth devices and nothing. I’ve tried various combinations of Rivian and iOS versions at this point and nothing. Service appointment for this and few other issues is scheduled for Nov 18. I can see “Rivian Phone Key” connect in my Bluetooth settings screen for super brief moments (maybe half second then it disappears). At this point I believe something is broken on the truck. My camp speaker is also broken in the locked position. Small but annoying problems.

Picked up my R1T yesterday and had a very similar troubleshooting experience. Phone wouldn't connect as key during pickup. Tried reseting phone, car, clearing caches, deleting/reinstalling app, unpairing all BT devices etc..
Only finally worked once I got 50 feet between my airpods (and other BT devices I had on me) and the car. Awfully coincidental but wanted to share for others

I picked up my truck on October 13th and they were unable to pair my iPhone 11 as a key. We were also unable to pair my wife’s iPhone 13 as a key. Multiple troubleshooting calls and a mobile service appointment still couldn’t resolve the problem. Never had a problem pairing the phones via BT. After mobile service call they decided that the module responsible for PaaK was the problem and may need to be replaced. I brought the truck into the Dallas SC yesterday. They spend 2 hours attempting to add my new iPhone 14 Pro as a key with same result. They had to re-install/reconfigure software on the module to resolve the problem. Now the iPhone 14 Pro has been added as a key. I was able to add my wife’s iPhone as a key when I got home.

A sidenote, the truck has never recognized my brand new Samsung 128 GB USB-C drive. It is formatted MS-DOS FAT32 and had GearGuardvideo as top-level directory. The SC had advised me that the same module associated with PaaK was also responsible for managing this functionality and should now work. But, no luck so far. Now, I need to figure out if I need a different drive or if there’s still an issue with the truck/module.
