A few noob questions…

Hello!

Background: I just purchased a slightly used R1T with a couple hundred miles on it and I’m still waiting for Arizona to remove the original owner from the truck and inactivate them in the Rivian app.

1. I’m unable to connect the R1T to my home WiFi. My Tesla has no problems. Is this because the owners isn’t me and their phone key isn’t seen, or is this a broken component requiring a trip to the service center? Thoughts?

2. Can you set the side mirrors to fold at a location, like my driveway before entering the garage (as I can on the Tesla)?

1. Check your SSID and remove special characters/spaces. Also, try a dedicated 2.4GHz channel.

Thanks. No SSID special charters; just six letters. We have a Linksys WiFI 6 mesh system that has 2.4 and more bands. Two teslas and everything else work just fine as set up.

No Geofenced mirror folding - Lame.

Separate the bands, and you may have better luck. Many devices have issues with band-steering mesh networks.

I have nearly 100 devices and zero issues, save for this Rivian. Not a network issue….

Ok... Others have had issues with this exact scenario, but I'm sure yours is different...

Beautiful. I'd be calling the Service Center. Why wait? They should be able to give you an answer as to what to do.

That's easy to answer - Because Rivian doesn't value our privacy - takes them up to five days to remove the prior owner from my vehicle; meanwhile, the prior owner has access to EVERYTHING I'm going, including gear guard video, from his Rivian app. Yeah, its true. I sent a complaint toe "[email protected]". No way to delete prior owner, or block access without going through the week's long Rivian ownership transfer process.

My Tesla's? Log on Remove the car from my profile, and reset the car to factory settings - Done (less than two minutes).

If your password has special characters it might fail to connect. I know. ?‍ but that’s what the engineer told me like 6 months ago.

Honest question: Did Tesla have geofenced mirror folding from the first year of Model S production or did the feature get added later via an OTA update?

I’m not 100% sure, as features have definitely been added (and a handful lost) via OTA updates, but I think the model S had this since at least early 2015 when I bought mine.

I’m certain it had geofencing for the air suspension ride height in early 2015
