So what are you all paying MONTHLY for insurance? I've had State Farm for years and had a great experience. We have our house, and another car through them as well so we get the multi-car discount. I called today to get a quote as I take delivery on the 27th of this month and was quoted $150/month for full coverage with a $500 deductible. Does that seem right? Is there anything I can do to get that lowered? No accidents or tickets on our record. 2025 R1T Dual-Motor Performace. Thanks!
I’m paying $2800/year with Progressive in South Florida. That’s with paying in full each 6 months, garage kept, no tickets/accidents.

Auto insurance rates will be affected by many factors, some critical ones beyond your control. What others pay for insurance may not be exactly and apples-to-apples comparison with what you pay.
I, for example, paid $550 every 6 months in 2024 for my R1S, $1,100 a year. I carry compulsory high coverage limits on my autos because it is a requirement for my umbrella policy. $550/6 months also includes full everything glass coverage with no glass deductible. My deductible is $1,000. As others have suggested, perhaps the first thing you can do is look at whether or not you can increase your deductible for collision and comprehensive, perhaps $1,000.

To this day, no other insurance company including SF can beat what I have. And I have a top-notch, second-to-none A++ insurance company.

Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods, it looks as if everybody got hit with a ~33% increase in auto insurance rates for 2025. I can offset that huge bump in auto insurance by simply increasing my deductible to $5,000. it's a wash.
Winters here are brutal, effecting severe punishment on vehicles. And I know this might not be realistic for you, maybe. For me, having multi cars, no way I am driving my R1S and one of my Teslas in the winter. Sent them to hibernation in my garage starting soon till at least next spring. Keeping comprehensive coverage only on those two, which not only reduced but actually slashed my auto insurance cost in half. All legal.

My jaw dropped. O-M-G!!!! That's awful.
Such is life in FL, I surmise having heard of stories about the horrific sky-high homeowners insurance also.

@FormulaR1T ... Likely the easiest way to lower your rates is to increase your deductible to $1000 or even $2000. The only reason to carry a lower deductible is to minimize your out of pocket expenses in case there's a claim. About 15 years ago my State Farm agent asked me why I was carrying a $500 deductible rather than a $1000 when the difference between the two was about $200/year. As he said, paying $200 per year for only an additional $500 in coverage is a lot...especially if you don't have any claims.

I changed my deductible then and haven't looked back. When I got the R1T I bumped t up to a $2,000 deductible and my State Farm rate is about $1400/year based on 17k miles annually.
I was surprised to notice that, conveniently, bumping up the deductible on my auto insurance policy like from $1k to $2k gave me a little reduction, arguably not worth it. Bumping it up to $5k instead, and on 4 vehicles, that was a serious reduction.

Yep it is crazy. No required bodily injury, system rigged for personal injury attorneys.

As others said, a lot depends on various factors, including which state you live in. Your rate seems reasonable to me. I’m in Florida and went with State Farm for my R1T because they were the cheapest. I just paid my 6 month premium for $735, $500 deductible) but here are the caveats: 1) uninsured driver coverage is stacked on my other vehicle - adding it separately to the Rivian would add $150-$200 (Florida is expensive here), 2) I opted for their tracking beacon which gives me at least a 10% discount - I usually do better, 3) I am a low mileage driver - less than 7500/yr, 4) I only have two cars with State Farm and house with another insurer so less discount there, and 5) I had one at-fault accident which added a small boost in premium. Additionally, when I first went with State Farm they said they also consider the solidness of your financial situation in addition to credit rating. I took that to mean things like owning a home, significant savings, etc. Of note, Progressive through Rivian was not even close but they do cover off-road damage and OEM parts. I’m not an off-roader. I haven’t had to test State Farm with OEM parts and Rivian certified body shops. Given OEM is the only thing available right now I figured this wouldn’t be an issue. Hopefully I won’t have to find out.

As you seem to be in Oregon, I suggest trying Rivian to see if Cincinnati Insurance will cover you (when I signed up, it required moving home owner's there as well). My renewal is $1,006 per year. This is for $250,000/$500,000 coverage, $500 deductible, and full replacement cost for the first five years.

Thank you all for the comments! I'm going to call on Monday to see if switching our deductible from $500 to $1,000 makes a significant difference. Is there any reason why I should not do that? It seems like based on the comments a lot of people have a $1,000 deductible instead of $500. We have a $500 deductible on our GLE as well. hmmmm makes me wonder if I should switch that to a $1,000 deductible as well......

You have to get the $$$ numbers from your agent, it only takes a few seconds for them to make "what if" changes. I also had a $2K deductible on my R1t just because our NY rates are sky high already and that high deductible helped lower them a tad.

Of course the downside of a high deductible is you'll have to lay out more out of pocket $$$ if you do have a claim.

I keep my comprehensive low because of parking lot dings minor damage that I want to be able to fix easily. But depends on your level of neuroticness.
