At the end of the day, Rivian is a business burning through cash and they need to sell inventory as fast as possible. It makes no sense delivering to someone more than 150 miles from a service center. Any warranty issues are going to be a huge cost to them, and people will complain how far the service center is every time they have an issue.

Possibly true, but abandoning their earliest customers is not good for the company's image.

I placed my preorder on May 18th and I was granted access to the R1T shop today. The site states delivery in 1 - 8 weeks. I am torn though. I am working with an individual on a purchase of a used R1T right now. I will save money, get the home charger and get the powered tonneau cover. On the down side the exterior and interior colors would not be my choice if buying new. Tough decision.
