How soft is Rivian Paint?

I own a Tesla Model 3 and a Toyota Tacoma. The Model 3 paint scratches if I look at it. The Tacoma can handle a car wash, but scratches down to the primer easily. How does the Rivian paint compare? TIA

Let it cure. Try not to touch it with anything for as long as possible let it sit in the sun.

I owned a model Y. Compared to the Model Y, the R1T gen 2 is significantly better. I live in the mountains of Arizona. Lots of rocks and pebbles on the road. Paint chips are normal and we plan on a major windshield crack once a year. After 5 years and 50,000 miles the model Y had hundreds of chips. The R1 after 18,000 has a few, a couple on the front, one on a mirror, non on sides ore back. It part has to do with the design and part with the paint.

No need to wait. Some R1s from the Rivian Shop already have XPEL Stealth PPFed as an option. The sooner it's done (if you're going to do it), the less chance of paint getting chips.

I was told to bring my R2 over immediately after I receive it at the Service Center. Saw this thread on soft paint and curing, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks @windblowic!

The paint is fairly "delicate" and I refuse to run mine through a car wash. That being said, after 41k miles, that front slab of paint between the headlights doesn't have hardly any nips or chips in it.

Industry standard says 60 days. But remember that is from build (paint sprayed), not when you receive. There is build date with each vehicle. Considering transportation and such the vehicle will have weeks of aging when you get it.

Never did XPEL and just run w factory paint on my Gen1 R1T. I take it thru the carwash w brushes every wk and and the only paint dings are from the local chip sealed roads or parking lot door hits. The factory paint durability has been stellar x 3 yrs.

Years of frequent automatic washes and traveling in an area full of rocks and sand...no particular marks were visible before I wrapped it for a color change. I had ceramic on it, and that was enough protection.
