They're pretty good cars otherwise. I owned a P85D and a Model S performance and thought I'd buy a 3rd or maybe a Cybertruck until I drove them. I ordered a Rivian a day after my test drive. Also, an opinion is not required to be "supported" to be valid. With that in mind, you can think the CT is the greatest thing since sliced bread and everyone is a fool for disagreeing with you, but that's still just like, your opinion, man.
Let's keep it honest here!

You were able to test-drive a Cybertruck before you decided to get a Rivian instead? I doubt it, it sounds made up.

This is pure troll speak. As we have all seen, you consider any criticism of Telsa here as hate, and now you boost your own insecurities regarding anyone criticizing Telsa by making up some fairy tale about Rivian owners having an "inferiority complex". There's nothing odd going on here other than your delusional disorder and wild ass accusations.
No, I don't consider any Tesla criticism to be hate. You just made that up. There is valid Tesla criticism, and then there is pure Tesla hate, which is almost always irrational or based on half-truths or untruths. And it runs deep here in a few participants.

I don't hate Rivian, I really want them to succeed, more so than they are, but I do hate the way people think car brands should be divisive, even if there are brands that they don't prefer or that don't resonate with them. It shouldn't be like a religion.

Lots of people on TMC hate the stupid things that Tesla has been doing the over the past few years ever since they refreshed the S/X: primarily the yoke, lack of stalks, and burying nearly every function into the screen, including the rear view mirror in the case of the Cybertruck. Tesla doesn't know or doesn't care that both their current and future customers dislike these design decisions.
Huh? The yoke is optional on the S&X, it costs $1000 more than a round steering wheel! Obviously some of their customers love it or they wouldn't offer it as an option! And the Model Y has the same screen centric operating system and it's the best-selling car in the world. It even outsells every gas car made! People love Tesla's screen centric operation, or it wouldn't be out-selling cars that have lots of buttons, switches for each individual task. You cannot please everyone, with every design choice. But Tesla tries to please the largest number of customers possible, that's how they have the best-selling car in the entire world!

They're pretty good cars otherwise. I owned a P85D and a Model S performance and thought I'd buy a 3rd or maybe a Cybertruck until I drove them. I ordered a Rivian a day after my test drive. Also, an opinion is not required to be "supported" to be valid. Of course you're right, and I support everyone's decision to buy the car they most want. What I don't support is misinformation about the competition. And I've corrected a lot of it since I started posting here nearly three years ago! For example, see the first paragraph of this post.

You fear wrong. I've been driving a Cybertruck around in the bare metal for almost three months now and I can see the genuine excitement on people's faces. I've had many conversations with complete strangers. They are super curious about it too and make a lot of positive comments that are completely unsolicited, I can tell they are genuine by the way they say them. You can't fake that with me. I'm 61 years old and know how to spot a disingenuous person from a mile away.

This may be surprise you, but there are two worlds out there. And the digital one is filled with AI bots posing as humans and the real world doesn't resemble the digital world at all. You need to get out and about more. And if you did it in a gleaming Cybertruck in the metal, you would see exactly what I'm talking about. People absolutely DO love it. I'm sure there are some that are not up for the radical looks and most of them are polite and walk away. But they are a small minority.

Talking about selling a Dual Motor (4x4) Cybertruck for under $50K is sheer madness and tells me you don't understand just how much luxury and driving performance, how much convenience and comfort is contained within its odd shape. There is not a single other vehicle that is like it. And no, I'm not talking about its futuristic looks. I'm talking about the way it drives and feels. The way it's so easy to use. The way its big and small at the same time (thanks to the steer-by-wire and 4-wheel steering). The smooth quiet ride. The way it can be jacked up with the push of a button and the big 35" tires will make easy work of rough terrain. The way the stereo sounds so big and dimensional, the view out of the huge windshield, the support and comfort of the ventilated seats. The sense of power and control that the Cybertruck elicits is hard to imagine until you actually drive one. And, yes, I've been driving a multitude of full sized 4x4's my whole life, but nothing feels like this. People will (and are) willing to pay a lot more than $50K to get something this unimaginable. Many of them just don't know it yet.

Watch and see. It's going to be a run-away best-seller, even at $79K. For that price, it can't be beat!
dude, you sure have a lot of time on your hands to come in here to a Rivian forum and write friggin novels to defend your decision to drink the kool aid. I own two teslas. Good vehicles. The company itself? Not so much and I’ve come to strongly dislike the fanbois out there who do exactly what you are doing here. Go over to the cybertruck forums and share ER photos where admirers of your brilliant foresight to give Elon an extra $20,000 for your foundation series have sliced themselves open by touching that refrigerator on wheels in the wrong place. Methinks thou doth protest too much.

Fast forward two weeks:

Tesla says demand for foundation series remains so strong they expect to not be selling non-FS until near the end of 2024.

So much for your alleged proof that demand is dropping. People are finding out how good of a truck Cybertruck really is and deciding it's not that expensive for what you get.
A guy just posted on X.com (another brilliant Elon decision btw) that he put in a reservation less than a year ago (so approx 4 years after the announcement/commencement of taking “over 2 million reservations” that he got the ready to order email today with a screenshot. Where are the 1.5 million or so people ahead of him in line at and why did they say “nah, I’m good” (presumably) when they were invited to order?

I've tried to cut my hand all over my Cybertruck but it's not sharp enough to draw blood. Personally, I think the cuts are staged, because the metal is 1.4 -1.8 mm thick, that's thicker than the backside of a typical stainless steel butter knife, and the edges have been eased at the factory so they're not sharp at all. I'm not sure why people think it's dangerous. Are they truck owners or drama queens?

And I always have enough time to correct the kind of silliness I see here. It doesn't take long at all. I don't watch TV so maybe that's why you're confused. TV is huge time-killer. The Rivian Forum? Not so much.

Look at the title of this thread. That's misinformation right there. Because Cybertruck sales have been increasing with increasing production. Tesla keeps making more of them and people are willing to pay $20K above regular MSRP to get the Foundation Edition. To be fair, it does come with a $2500 credit voucher and FSD with a value of $8K, but that still means people are paying well over the non-Foundation price to buy Cybertruck in ever increasing numbers. We know this because production keeps accelerating and Tesla hasn't had to drop the price yet. There are more people waiting to buy a Cybertruck once the Foundation premium is removed than all the people who have already purchased.

So, what's with this fake narrative of tanking pre-orders/sales? People are still paying the premium almost a month after this thread was started. And Elon recently said that Foundation Series is being extended due to stronger than anticipated demand.

It's certainly possible to fake such a cut, but I'm not making that claim because I don't have all the facts necessary to make that claim. It's also possible it was due to a manufacturing defect. Mine doesn't have edges anywhere near sharp enough to cut me, even if I try. I know that for a fact because I've inspected every exposed edge, over the entire truck.

do you sleep with those blinders on or is it uncomfortable?
if the latter rate it on a 1-10 scale with 1 being
”I let Elon use $250,000 for my roadster order interest free for the last few years” and 10 being “I paid $20,000 for laser etching “foundation series” on my truck and now I can’t retire on schedule because of my lack of fiscal responsibility“

??? this guy is just ”everything is a conspiracy“ when it comes to negativity around his precious CT. Now you have him saying ACTUAL owners are faking injuries. Man you are really burying yourself here. Close that window, your credibility just flew out of it.

I'm not saying that Tesla is not going deep into the reservation list to find people willing to pay $20K more, that's just smart business.

What I am saying is don't believe every single post and take it as gospel. I have no idea where Tesla is in the reservation line, and I don't care. Because when they run out of people willing to pay the $20K premium they will go back to the start of the line and start selling to those who have been patiently waiting to get their hands on a Cybertruck without having to pay the $20K premium.

But the fact remains, Tesla is still selling the Foundation series with a $20K premium almost a month after this thread was started.
