Good morning everyone. I have an R1T but I have a neighbor who just got his Compass Yellow R1S today. He has 1 toddler with a front facing car seat and 2 infants with rear facing seats.

He said he doesn't believe he can fit 3 across. What would be the best way to put his car seats to allow the best access?

I don't have my R1S yet, but I spent half of my test drive time evaluating how various combinations of car seats fit. It was better than I expected, but leaves a lot to be desired.

I think 3 across is likely the best option.

I measured 55" between the armrests. 55/3=18.3. There are plenty of car seats that are less than 18" wide, but most are wider. So, while three across is very much possible, it may require buying new, smaller, car seats.

As far as using the 3rd row goes, it doesn't seem like it will work to put 2 kids in the 2nd row and one in the 3rd because, you can't fit 2 seats on the 60 side of the 60/40 split and you can't access the 3rd row without folding.

So the only option is 2 kids in the 3rd row and 1 in the 2nd if you can't or don't want to do 3 across.

For narrow car seats, I highly recommend Cleck

I use 2 Dionos in my model 3. I think they're 17" wide. I can fit them in the back next to each other with an adult back there. Their big disadvantage is they are tall. So rear facing takes up front seat space. I tried this in my R1S test drive and it was cramped in the passenger seat. I'm 6'4" and not sure I'd fit well.
