Heater vibrating

Hi all just traded in my 2022 R1T for a 2025 R1 S , anyone have any vibrations inside the truck when the heater or AC is running, also it’s really noisy on the outside as well , didn’t have this on the R1T thanks for any input

It’s the worst!!!
Seems to be worse on Heat than AC, but what a terrible grinding noise!!! & I can feel the vibrations through the steering wheel & pedals.
Only solve to mitigate it that I’ve found is to adjust the temperature up or down & the fan speed.
But seems to go away after about 15-20minutes.
My Heat Pump HVAC’s at home are whisper quiet In comparison, I have to stand next to them to even know that they’re on.

hey thanks for your reply , I contacted rivian they told me I would have to book a service appointment but couldn’t give me one until the end of July, I am experiencing everything like you , the truck is brand new not even 200 miles on it , not sure how to proceed

Sadly that is often the case with the Service Centres, but from experience when you do finally get to see them, they are nothing but excellent & very friendly. Assuming you’re not in a severely cold area maybe try not to use the Heat too much, (or put on an extra layer). The AC very rarely makes a similar growl.

2025 introduced a heat pump, so by nature it WILL vibrate/buzz. Unfortunately the nature of the beast. It's normal and expected to some degree. All EVs with heat pumps do vibrate/buzz at least a little.

That said, the buzzing/vibrating is made worse on some vehicles unnecessarily.

When operating normally it should be nearly inaudible from the inside of the cabin. You will absolutely feel it vibrating in the steering wheel and pedals, but it shouldn't sound like anything more than a faint rumble on the inside.

On the outside it will definitely be louder. It still shouldn't be "loud" or "deafening", but not the "silent" EVs of the past without a heat pump. I would describe mine as being at the volume level of a peopletalking loudly in public (but not shouting). It will be like this for the first few minutes, then it usually quiets down a lot. Not loud, but definitely not silent either.

If you would describe the inside as being rattly/noisy, or the outside as being loud or deafening, then it's not working as inteded.

On my vehicle, it originally was noisy and rattly on the inside. The SC found that the HVAC lines were resting on the firewall/bulkhead area. So they moved and tied them away from the bulkhead, and that made a WORLD of difference in cabin noise. Now the heat pump is barely audible from the inside.

I've heard from others that if the system is excessively loud from the outside and/or doesn't heat and cool very well, the system is overcharged or undercharged.

One thing to note here, the heat pump noise is very temperature dependent. It will be louder at 20F than at 40-50F ambient temps.
