I find it interesting that they will be taking all this stuff off my Max Pack order. It implies its because they don't expect the accessories to be available when they ship the truck. Are they that close with it or are they just trying to get me to not purchase them at the original price, which is likely to be a loss.
My Max Pack delivery window is 2H 2023 and they took the camp kitchen off my order too. Hard to believe they won't have it ready in 8 months but who knows. Starting to smell like vaporware in here. I sure hope they'll honor the original pricing. $5k was really a lot to ask for the Camp Kitchen but the current price is just silly and more than I'd be willing to spend.

Really? I was told we'd still get pre 3/1 pricing on the kitchen. My guide also told me we'd get pre-3/1 pricing on the OEM tent minus the cost of the cargo cross bars, which they did send with my order. They removed the kitchen and tent from my order and said they'd "put notes in my file" about the pre-3/1 pricing on these items.
I was told that as well...but I'm just not sure they can profitably...but fingers crossed.

My guide that told me that doesn't work for Rivian anymore!

This is just a semantic point, but don't you have to be making something in order to pause production? If you were never making it in the first place, it's just a delay...

I got this email, about the kitchen. Conspicuously missing any mention of price. It is surely going to increase.
You're probably right. They removed the price of the Gear Tunnel Shuttle and Camp Kitchen from the website too. No way it didn't occur to Tony that people who have been waiting years only to have their order canceled would wonder if Rivian would still honor the original price. They've been through this before.

I just can't imagine they'll sell many at $6,750. It was never a great value but that's crazy. Nice two burner induction cooktops run for about $215. Add in another $800 (retail) in Snow Peak cookware. Grab a Geyser portable washer for $300. Figure another $500 in hinges, cable channel, and plastic for the shuttle. I'm happy to pay a premium for the nice integration but charging $6750 for $1800 in parts might make even Porsche blush. Sigh...

On a happy note, maybe they'll surprise us all with a v2.0 which is way better and worth the money. Since we're dreaming, maybe it will integrate with an upgraded inverter for the Max Pack so you can use more than a single high wattage appliance at once.

I received a similar email regarding the gear tunnel shuttle. My pre-order is for the R1T Max Pack and the only delivery window I've ever received is 1H23 which I expect will be updated at the end of this month. That said I too find it interesting the email says I may received my truck before the redesigned gear tunnel is available. Really?? Not sure I believe that so I called CS and was told that I will be notified when the new gear tunnel shuttle is available and he could NOT guarantee me that Rivian would honor my current pre 3/1 pricing and also could NOT guarantee that i wouldn't be charged to have a tech install it (which I believe is recommended) when it is eventually available. Hmmm. Disappointed that after all the hoopla about honoring pre 3/1 pricing Rivian seems to be getting creative with options to try and get higher pricing on options.

Didn't get the update yet, but had both the camp kitchen and tent in my original configuration which they took off so i could get delivery, but like others, were told i'd get the old price once it came about. In the meantime, i've gone ahead and put an ikamper 2.0 mini on instead, so they can keep the yakima. Didn't think about the brake light issue. Being that the tent blocks not only the total back window but also the high brake light, I've gotten used to using side view mirrors exclusively and hoping anyone behind me sees the other brake lights. Anyone know if there are any state laws about "attachments" like the tent blocking the brake light?

the pricing wasn’t so bad given what is included.

The snow peak stuff they include adds up to over $2000 at retail. I have a few of the items it includes already and they are well worth the price.
the dometic cook top retails for about $750.

similar kitchen box units sell for anywhere from $600-$2000, without kitchen equipment.

it also includes the shuttle itself which is a $1500 option otherwise.
slides of the same type/capacity are not cheap, about $500 on McMaster Carr for example. Plus wiring, etc.

hopefully the design changes are improvements and not just adjustments around supply constraints.

I'm surprised the tent keeps getting pushed back. I saw a guy on youtube with the Yakima/Rivian tent. He didn't appear to have any sort of brake light accessory. I wonder how he got his hands on one or maybe he works for Rivian?

No email yet my tent and kitchen was pulled off for delivery promised it would be same price.

I think the $5000 was reasonable considering the Snow peak gear in it. custom cork liners pump water tank all having to covered under warranty.

Also a little disappointed I've been asking for updates on these and haven't gotten anything from my guide except end of year. These are viable reasons its delayed just let us know? Also I'm not blaming my guide I think its what they are being told they are treated like a bunch of mushrooms.

I think those without current reservations didn't get this email. That doesn't make me feel good about them removing this stuff again from my second truck.

The fact they aren't saying "pre march pricing" or better yet "at your original pricing" tells us there will be a premium price in line with today's or more accurately, tomorrows economy and not honouring the originally configured one.

While disappointing, but all things considered, getting the vehicle at the original cost while those accessories are not is a fair compromise in my opinion.

This sounds like both a design issue and a price increase. Sad to hear both. I had interest in the gear tunnel shuttle but removed it thinking that it could be a long while before it's available. It is possible they would have removed it from my order regardless.

The camp kitchen is a pretty expensive accessory. If they raise it further I wonder if they sell enough to be worth it or if they just cancel it altogether next year.

I’m curious if the pre 3/1 order holders will still get that pricing or if we’re going to have to reorder this at the new higher price.
Rhetorical question?

Comms were pretty clear back in March that if you had a pre-March 1st reservation any accessory prices would be honored.
