I've had the Fob for the last two weeks - and its also been two weeks of failed pairing attempts. I'm so very tired of the "Something went wrong, let's try again" message in the app.

I have tried setting it up in the car (Gen 2 R1T), away from the car, with wifi enabled, using the hotspot, using cellular. I have popped the battery out and retried multiple times.

So, mobile service is coming out to help. Seems a little extreme / expensive but that's how they want to handle it, so that's what is being done.
Any issues with your phone pairing? Just curious if you can actually change car settings over cellular (not close enough for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi). Things like charge limits and HVAC. I'm experiencing that plus what you have going on.

No, my (Android) phone pairs just fine & I have no problem connecting to the car remotely to check the cameras, turn on the HVAC, etc.

Update on the Fob. The service truck came out yesterday and the guy activated a new key card for me and then spent 30 minutes trying to get the fob to work. Finally, he gave up and said, "I think that this is a defective fob." He put that note into his system, asked if I had paid for the fob (which I thought was a ridiculous question), and said they would be in touch to resolve the issue. The Malvern service center just called me... They want to send a truck out next week to deal with it. I explained that I hadn't been able to get it to work, and the previous tech couldn't either. The tech thought it was defective, so it most likely needs to be swapped out. They said, regardless they were going to roll a truck out to confirm that the fob really doesn't work.

There is no question that I want my fob to work, but I can't help thinking that if you're already losing money on every car you make you can't be blowing more money on ridiculous service calls like this. Just my two cents.

Sorry for the delay - yes they came back out and worked on it again. The tech could not get the fob setup with my phone; however, he conferenced in a Rivian IT person who was able to force the fob into the car remotely. Everything is working fine now.

I learned, during the process, that the fob counts as 2 keys - 1 Bluetooth and 1 NFC. I also found out that 6 is the maximum number of keys allowed on the Gen 2.

This behavior happens with ALL my keys. The app will reflect re-assigned keys fine, but that message never gets to the car, which will show all keys on the Owner profile. When I unlock using the "reassigned" key, it uses the Owner profile, and not the profile the key was reassigned to.

I have a service appointment next week to address this, but I suspect it's much more widespread than just me (but nobody notices it because few people reassign keys, and it still works to unlock and start the car even if it isn't actually reassigned in the car).
So I got my truck back from service. This wasn't fixed, and the techs didn't even really look at it (they just re-paired a keycard that couldn't be added again after I removed it).

I showed the tech the assign-fail behavior, told them I didn't think they could fix it and it was probably a software update issue so I'll just take the truck back, and they said they'd make a note in the file for when a fix is available.

For now, it's a minor issue, so I'm happy to live with it.

Interesting. With our keycards, phones and Apple Watches we are already at 6. Glad I didn't order a FOB.

Anyone having keycard or FOB issues might want to call the Rivian tech support line rather than service center. Our first night with our new R1S one key card quit working but our phones still worked. I messed with it for over an hour and couldn't get them working. Then the second key card quit working. The Rivian phone tech took me through the reset procedures which didn't work. He then said he was going to have the IT guys look at it and would call me back in 15 minutes. Before he called back I could see in the Rivian app that the key cards had been reset and put back on the owner account. He called back as promised and everything was working fine. I was very happy to find out that Rivian Support was available 24/7 and they answer quickly.

This can’t be true if the fobs count as two. I have two keycards, two fobs, and two phones. This would make 8 and all work fine.
