This thread is for those interested in performance. (no need for all the "why do you need that" comments please)

I want to start a discussion on the powertrain configurations of the new Tri and Quad. Obviously since the quad is not 25% more TQ and HP there is more than just dropping another motor in. (not to mention all the other factors like max amps ext). Based on my calculations the new Quad only has 17% more HP and 8% more TQ than the Tri. But I dont think that is the full picture. I am a performance junkie and I want to Justify to myself to wait for the quad over the Tri to replace my gen 1 quad. What I am realy trying to figure out is if there are motor diferences or if its just about software limiting each motor differently. I guess a good place to start would be if anyone knows if Rivian is producing 2 different motors right now or if the higher performance on the duel motor is just software? I am of the understanding that Rivian is currently making 2 motors. If this is correct it might be that the tri motor has 2 of the less powerfull new motors in the rear (all in house motors are more powerfull than the Bosh) Anyway please check out my Excel sheet and let me know what you guys think.

Go QM....you sound like me and I suspect I would ultimately regret not going QM.

Dual and Tri share a front motor design. Quad shares rear design with the Tri. Quad has an additional new drivetrain design that no other vehicles have up front. Gen2 Quad is rear biased, the front two motors are physically smaller.

Thanks Dark-FX. you have definitely answered more than one question on here for me. I am really curious to see what the quad will be like compared to the Tri. Assuming price is not relevant I just want to make sure the Quad is the "More Fun" We all know its faster but the Tri might be even more rear bias and at only about 12% less overall power? If they are identical in the back the added front motor might not even add to the on road fun. What if the Tri even has more power to the back in some situations due to overall current limits?

I wish it was as simple as each Motor has X HP & Y TQ. Then a Tri motor would potentially have 1000 HP and 1250 Tq with exactly 2/3 of that power coming from the back! now that would be fun.
