R1T/S have both odometer and trip meter albeit only visible when in the drive mode screen. I'm very pleased with the level of tech. in my 2022 R1T. I had a 2023 Mach-E which had AA/CP and much prefer the U/I of the Rivian. I just checked out a $120K Hummer EV (the full spec. Launch edition, forgot what they called it) and it had no built in Nav and relied solely on AA/CP which was a big turn-off for me. Not trying to say AA/CP supporters are wrong just noting that not everyone prefers it.I love my R1S but no odometer, trip gauge, CarPlay, or AM radio like I have in my Kia EV6 GT-L at 2/3rds the price. AM Radio? Didn’t realize people still listened to that!I love my R1S but no odometer, trip gauge, CarPlay, or AM radio like I have in my Kia EV6 GT-L at 2/3rds the price. Technology innovation my .....
It has been disclosed that Alexa for vehicle controls is in the free tier.I hope people do it to help the stock price but the only thing I use on that I would be missing is the Alexa connection. "which isn't worth $15 a month" Would seem kinda dumb if I have to glue an Alexa auto to the dash so I can lock doors and turn on and off lights as i'm pulling in or out of the driveway.
Yes but "Alexa Connected commands " are in the paid part.It has been disclosed that Alexa for vehicle controls is in the free tier.
My bad. My brain stopped at 'lock the doors' and I made an incorrect assumption that you were talking about the vehicle. Should have been tipped off by the fact that we can't even lock the vehicle with Alexa right now... ?Yes but "Alexa Connected commands " are in the paid part.
I saw that distinction and I was confused why that's part of the paid. We can already use our phones to do that with the Alexa app (using the hands free option) or Siri/Google (depending on your phone OS).Yes but "Alexa Connected commands " are in the paid part.
Ya makes no sense to me except its data going out of the truck. If that's how the distinction is I wonder if she won't be able to stream music or tell the weather as well.I saw that distinction and I was confused why that's part of the paid. Stupid Question:I used Alexa a couple of times and it was completely worthless. Play some music and she plays one song and stops. I'll be happy to see that gone. I tried Spotify but it plays the same fifteen songs over and over on each channel. That got old quick too.
I'm used to this scenario. Most of the functions in my 2014 Audi are abandoned too. It only has a 3g cell module. I just didn't anticipate I'd lose functionality in less than a year on a $100k vehicle but they weren't that great to begin with so no biggie.
I can get a bigger experience and versatility on a cell phone with a $15 SIM card. Plug share, Google maps, Waze, OnX, along with thousands of other useful apps are available. Maybe casting will pan out as a $15 per month useful feature but I have my doubts that all those apps would cast.
I see the version 1 cars already being left behind so that's sad.
